Oversees and manages furniture installation projects, working to meet or exceed customer expectations and bring projects in under budget. Generally works with a set group of established clients and their related UCF team (Sales, Design, ACT, Lead Installer) or may work primarily with new business customers and a new business team. This critical position must work to: Reduce costs and expenses associated with the installation of systems furniture; Increase profitability of installations of systems furniture for the dealership; and Increase customer satisfaction levels of the dealership.

Essential Functions:

  • Communicates project scope to Operations Manager to obtain labor quotes and proposals
  • Schedules (through the Scheduler), communicates and coordinates installation dates with customer, Installation, Sales and appropriate contractors including the coordination of pre-project, pre-install and post-install meetings
  • Tracks multiple projects throughout the process to ensure timely and accurate completion and monitors job costs
  • Troubleshoots any problems including damages, shortages, discrepancies and changes and follows up with affected parties by providing written documentation on disposition; coordinates wit h ACT for replacement product ordering
  • Addresses and resolves installation / logistical problems in the field
  • Secures and documents change orders where out-of-scope work is performed, and ensures that change order is reviewed with salesperson and properly billed
  • Communicates project punchlist information to ACT for further action; follows up on punchlist action and coordinates final punchlist installation; similarly oversees the resolution of freight claims
  • Participates in final customer walk-through and completes project punchlist, customer sign-off and ensures project closure in Hedberg to expedite the billing process
  • Maintains Hedberg project folder information and final job costing information
  • Oversees and pursues move management and/or reconfiguration opportunities
  • Meets with Lead Installer / crew to give direction and share information prior to and during installation
  • Supplies technical / logistical advice to Sales and other departments
  • Follows up with client / foreman to make sure job was completed as expected and shares this information with the Sales Associate

Reporting Relationships:
  • Reports to the Director of Operations

  • Evaluates labor needs and time frames for project purposes; communicates needs and provides appropriate paperwork to Scheduler for manpower scheduling
  • Provides appropriate paperwork and forms to all affected areas
  • Cross references an order to the floor plan. Checks specifications and applications for projects under 5 stations.
  • Field verifies drawings for installations, walks job sites (preferably with client), to verify scope and avoid problem areas i.e. across into building, dock elevator
  • In preparation for an installation, verifies that all product for installation is either received, pulled from inventory, or is existing and on-site
  • Makes sure delivery tickets are signed and returned; delivers delivery tickets to Invoicing in conjunction with closing out order lines
  • Runs hours report on quoted jobs, invoices accordingly, and sees that those particular work orders are complete
  • Helps the Scheduler with coordination of client weekly work order day when asked to do so
  • Attends construction / move meetings on large projects
Skills and experience:
  • High School graduate
  • Basic computer proficiency
  • Ability to read blueprints
  • Minimum 2 years experience in furniture installation and or project management
  • Steelcase product knowledge preferred - systems furniture knowledge required
  • Use of Microsoft Outlook for e-mail
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong team player
  • Strong customer service orientation
  • Ability to organize and manage multiple priorities
  • High sense of urgency
  • Excellent follow-up skills

Non-essential skills and experience:
  • Experience with spread sheet programs
  • Experience preparing or tracking budgets and or job costing

Physical Requirements:
  • Works at a computer 40 - 50% of work day
  • Approximately 50% of work day is spent driving to or visiting job sites
  • Required to drive own vehicle and or UCF truck to customer locations (must maintain valid California Driver's lic. and minimum vehicle insurance on own vehicle)
  • Some job-sites may be unfinished buildings with uneven or unpredictable walking surfaces
  • Frequent telephone, cellular phone and two-way radio use
  • Meets with others in the office on a regular basis

  • Desktop or Laptop computer
  • Telephone, cellular phone and two-way radio
  • Standard office equipment including: printers, copiers, facsimile machine
  • May occasionally be required to help with furniture installation

Work Environment
  • Wide variety of environments; primarily professional offices, low noise level; job-sites may be medium to high noise level and at any stage of the building process
  • UCF office and most client offices are heated and air conditioned; job-sites may or may not be

  • This position is classified as Non-Exempt for purposes of Overtime pay
