Quality Assurance Technician

Qualifications:
• High School Diploma or GED with applicable experience or a Bachelor’s Degree in Food Science or other related field with no experience.
• Self-motivated, able to take initiative and use sound judgment in day-to-day decision making
• Professional, courteous, reliable, and mature, with outstanding organizational and communication skills- fluent in reading and writing English
• Clear understanding of GMP’s, HACCP and Sanitation Standards covering the dairy and baking industry
• Food production experience preferred
• Flexible and able to work with others as a team
• Punctual and reliable in work attendance
• Able to effectively analyze problems and develop solutions
• Proficient with Microsoft Office software, particularly Excel, and possess solid general computer, math, and analysis skills
• Willing and able to travel out of state occasionally for training

Responsibilities:
• Ensures on a daily basis that all QA policies and procedures are followed at the Rich’s manufacturing facility as part of Rich’s Quality/Food Safety Program
• Leads the maintenance of HACCP, GMP’s, SSOP’s, SOP’s, pre-requisite programs, and record forms to meet the highest Food Safety/Quality Assurance standards
• Responsible for monitoring the micro finished product program and assuring the implementation of the Hold/Release policy
• Coordinates with QA Manager the daily release of finished products to the market, and when necessary, the destruction of finished products
• Act as a liaison with outside lab to ensure timeliness of samples’ schedules and results
• Performs/coordinates the sampling for the compliance of the Monthly Environmental program and water test according to company procedures
• Conducts daily a pre-operational plant inspection and ATP swabbing to authorize or not the start up of processing operations
• Executes daily and weekly analyses of data (i.e. micro, weights, scrap, etc.)
• Escorts Pest Control Technician, State/FDA inspector, and 3rd Party Food Safety consultants in the plant during the inspections and performs necessarily follow up with Plant Management.
• Monitors daily and thru the day that employees follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and informs plant management when corrective actions are required
• Monitors daily and thru the day the compliance of all raw materials, packaging materials, products in process, and finished products according to Rich’s specifications
• Responsible for training new and existing employees in Rich’s GMPs, HACCP, Pre-requisites programs, QA procedures, and in filling correctly all Rich’s QA forms used for process control
• Assures the compliance of Finished Products’ SOP’s within Rich’s QC Specs. Informs Plant Manager/QA Manager when of out of range
• Investigates along with QA Manager Customer complaints and identifies possible corrective and preventive measures
• Performs daily sensory evaluations along with QA Manager/Production Personnel according to company procedures
• Works with Plant Operations and QA Manager on continuous improvement projects to increase yields, efficiencies, product quality, and minimize product waste
• Other duties as assigned

Schedule- 6:00 am - 3:30 pm

Pay Rate- $15.00 - $16.00 per hour
Drug and background screenings required
