Job Description

Title: CAD Designer (Remote Option) 

Location: Flour Idaho 


As a member of an integrated engineering design project group, the candidate will:

  • Apply acquired design and drafting skills to design and develop 3-D models, engineered design details, drawing and other supporting documentation
  • Create project specifications
  • Develop project cost and schedule documents
  • Be totally committed to safety in the workplace for yourself and others
  • Support the Fluor Idaho One Safety program goals for maintaining a safety conscious work environment including active participation in Fluor safety programs and activities
  • Apply acquired multi-disciplined CAD design/drafting skills and techniques to prepare and/or check new and revised drawings in support of structures or components (SSC) as required
  • Act as drafting lead to ensure work of lower level coworkers is accurate and complete
  • Become familiar with the company’s procedures for developing and maintaining drawings (MCP-2377) and drawing standards (STD-11)
  • Train junior level personnel in technical complexities of assigned work
  • Receive general supervision


  • US citizen and able to work in Idaho
  • Work a 4X10 schedule based out of the Sawtelle Street Facility (SSF) and Site
  • Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent of four years relevant experience)
  • Working knowledge of CAD 2D/3D graphics drafting/design modeling software, preferably current release of AutoCAD compatible
    • Specifically Autodesk inventor and/or Autodesk Revit
  • Application of design and layout skills and techniques normally acquired by having a basic drafting education followed by experience supplemented with continuing formal and informal engineering course work
  • Broad background in nationally recognized standards associated with drawing and specification convention/interpretation with emphasis on AE design and construction methodology and documentation
  • Experience in the practical application of the Configuration Management aspects of construction vs. operational documentation


  • General Employee Radiological Training (GERT), INL ESH&Q (Blue Card), and INL Site Access Qualification
  • General employee training including Integrated Safety Management System (ISMS), Voluntary Protection Program (VPP), and safety meetings
  • Additional site/area specific training as identified by applicable Program/Project/Facility Manager


The candidate must:

  • Be familiar with, and comply with, all relevant health and safety requirements
  • Be knowledgeable of emergency action policies and procedures, methods for reporting/resolving unsafe work practices or conditions to available cognizant professionals
  • Know and comply with environmental, safety, health and pollution prevention regulations, policies and procedures for this position
  • Ensure own safety and safety of coworkers
  • Report unsafe work conditions to immediate manager
  • Ensure the five core functions of ISMS are understood and applied when performing job duties
  • Ensure that operational excellence is achieved through appropriate implementation of conduct of operations
