Position Title: Applications Expert Oil & Gas components / Downhole tools
Location: Houston, TX
Applications Expert Oil & Gas Components with initial focus on downhole tools has extensive knowledge of operation & function of such components (applications), their load and surface conditions as well as related surface protection measures (Materials, Coating solutions). He/she acts as trusted technical partner for external and internal customers and as Project Manager. Main tasks are gathering insights into application needs and opportunities for OM products & solutions, Sales support via joint customer visits to explore customer pain but also to promote and offer related coating products and/or services, Management of Application development projects with particular focus to initiate the solution development, work with customers during the test phase and coordinating with the various Stakeholders particular the Coating Solution Centers
Provide guidance, information & technical arguments to position & promote OM Materials, Equipment and connect opportunities to Coating Service (MCS) whenever possible.
Will be the subject matter expert with deep understanding of the OM product offerings (Mat, EQ, Service) , the target customers and the competitive landscape. Delivers the relevant information and technical credibility to our customers that facilitates conversion of opportunities into order intake
Regularly conducts joint visits with Sales to Customers to assure first-hand technical information, creates application solutions that meet customer needs. Manage multiple interactions simultaneously in a matrix organization
Work closely with Marketing, Knowledge Mgmt., Product & Market Segment Mgrs. creating regional application specific value proposition sales tools and application documentation packages i.e. Solution Flash, Case studies, Application Bulletins to facilitate a replication (copy / paste) of successes
Work closely with Knowledge mgmt. to develop and implement comprehensive application specific training programs designed to create market awareness of the product offerings and supports their execution ( Training of Sales in regards to product offerings and creating application-product related selection & training tools)
Provide input to Sales for new opportunities and works with Sales Mgmt. to define action and growth plans.
Provide input to new product development opportunities, defines product gaps, product performance and competitor movements.
He/she supports Sales at Exhibitions, customer trainings, onsite demonstrations and technical presentations at Customers.
Drives and Manages application specific initiatives and projects (qualifications, validations, support of launch plans, post launch reviews, joint developments, product trials) in the field.
Coordinates Customer specific projects with Sales, RD, CSC and MCS as appropriate
Technical university degree Masters or higher. Focus on Materials, Surface Engineering and surface protection, wear and corrosion mechanisms
Practical work experience (5 years) in Oil & Gas components, particular Downhole tools
Knowledge of Laser Cladding, Gas Welding, Welding, Thermal Spray Coatings, Hardfacing related to the application area.
Proven Project Management Experience and track record
Broad experience in customer facing interactions and consultation
Ability to motivate multifunctional teams to ensure that we deliver on commitments to customers
Presentation, communication skills
Solid know-how in solving problems under the pressure of Customer demands; Strong analytical skills
Creativity and Experience in Innovation Management (Ideation process)
