- 75-80 staff total for both units – mostly RNs, but have Nursing Assistants and Unit Secretaries

- Ortho-Spine
- Takes vascular patients (this was an arrangement made by a now-retired Nurse Manager for T8E when each of the units had its own Nurse Manager)
- Will be seeking Ortho-Spine certification from TJC
- Both units will take Trauma overflow
- The Ortho floor has a strong Clinical Ladder for their RNs
- Nursing Research and Evidence-Based Practice are strongly supported
- This Nurse Manager reports to Director, Surgical Units & Orthopedic Services
- Reporting to the Nurse Manager are the Manager, Clinical Operations and the Nursing staff
- The Nurse Manager will work collaboratively with Clinical Coordinator, Performance Improvement, Clinical Navigator-Joints and the Medical Directors.
- This is a BSN required position.
- Requirements for candidates include:
- Certification as an Orthopedic Nurse
- RN experience in Ortho acute care setting
- 2 years of experience as a Nurse Manager
- MSN is very desirable
- Able to develop strong relationships at all levels of the organization
- Be a visible leader
- Able to mentor Ops Manager and staff
- Must have solid communications skills
- Transparency
- Able to ask the “difficult questions”
- Flexible and adaptable
- EBP/Quality experience is preferred
- Project Management experience is preferred
- Achievements for first 6-12 months of tenure:
- Develop relations with Nursing staff, MDs, Nursing Manager-peers and Leadership
- Be involved with Tower 8 initiatives including Nurse-Sensitive Indicators (SSI), Unit Council, Nurse Manager committees
- Work with Clinical Ladder staff
- Understand and meet productivity/budgetary targets
- Oriented to the Queen’s Medical Center and Queen’s Health System
- Meet and network with all key stakeholders/departments that will work with (HR – Recruitment and Employee/Labor Relations)
- Salary range $145,000 - $155,000/year – will discuss depending on candidate’s experience
- 90 days temporary housing in condo
- $10k-$15K relocation
