Overview:

The Kennel Attendant provides care and the basic needs of animals that are being groomed, boarded or that are patients of Oak Valley Veterinary Hospital including cleaning of cages, runs and ward areas, laundry, walking, and proper feeding, medicating and care of all hospitalized patients. They also provide assistance to fellow staff members as needed, help maintain facility cleanliness, prepare surgery packs, and promptly report any concerns to technicians and doctors. The kennel attendant's role is essential in upholding the well-being of the animals and supporting the smooth operation of the facility.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Maintain a clean and safe environment for animals in their temporary housing.
• Assist in walking patients and providing exercise and socialization.
• Administer medications according to instructions provided by veterinarians or technicians.
• Update patient records accurately and promptly throughout the day.
• Provide assistance to fellow staff members as needed, collaborating closely with the veterinary team.
• Help maintain facility cleanliness and hygiene, ensuring a comfortable and sanitary environment.
• Prepare surgery packs and assist with surgical procedures as required.
• Promptly report any concerns, changes in behavior, or health issues to technicians and doctors.
• Follow protocols and procedures to ensure the safety and well-being of animals in our care.

Qualifications & Skills:

• Previous experience working with animals in a professional setting preferred.
• Passion for animal welfare and a strong sense of compassion.
• Ability to maintain a clean and organized environment.
• Excellent observation and communication skills.
• Ability to follow instructions accurately and efficiently.
• Physical stamina to perform tasks such as walking and lifting animals.
• Flexibility to work weekends
