Role Description:
Oak Street Health takes a team-based approach to providing outstanding patient care. The Oak Street Health Team is responsible for delivering excellent, high-touch, primary care, and coordinating the care of our patients throughout the healthcare delivery system.
Clinic Testing Medical Assistants are an important part of our Care Teams. High levels of flexibility, attention to detail, and problem solving are required to be successful. You will be expected to build relationships with Oak Street Health patients and care team members. Clinic Testing Medical Assistants will work closely and collaboratively with their teammates as the owner of in-clinic patient testing. They will be expected to assist providers in assessing member’s health conditions, including performing routine diagnostic testing during appointments.
Core Responsibilities:
Supports efficient patient flow by conducting in-clinic testing under the direction of providers at the beginning and/or end of each patient visit
Takes ownership for patient testing gaps and daily clinical testing needs by leveraging standing orders, and working under the direction of providers
Delivers accurate tests and documents results in our EMR; tests include but are not limited to: ABI, spirometry, EKGs, RetinaVue
Serves as a thoughtful partner to the central Population Health and Clinical Quality teams by actively participating in pilots and new initiatives
Ensures effective maintenance of all equipment, including routine quality control checks
Prioritizes safe care delivery, and ensures a safe environment of care by following infection control measures
Participates in care team meetings to discuss patient care and clinic operations

What are we looking for?
CPR Certification required
Medical Assistant certification or registration required
3-5 years in a Medical Assistant role preferred
2 or more years of experience working with geriatric patients
Phlebotomy Technician Certification preferred
At least 2 years of experience working in an EMR
Strong communication skills and customer service orientation
Demonstrates problem-solving skills, accountability, and a flexible, positive attitude
Fluency in Spanish, Polish, Russian, or other languages spoken by people in the communities we serve (where necessary)
US work authorization
