The Role

OWL Services has an immediate opening for a full time Director, Training Design and Development which can be located as a remote position.

Our ideal candidate will be someone who is looking for a long-term opportunity, and the desire to join a growing organization and enjoys independence while at work. This is a full-time position.

The successful candidate will be a reliable self-starter who is able to work autonomously, has a mix of creative and learning design and learning technology management skills, and takes initiative and has pride in their work. Must have excellent attention to detail and a strong drive for results.

The Director, Training Design and Development is responsible for leading the strategy, development and implementation of OWL’s training and development programs. Provides leadership and oversight of managing the training design for business unit and technical programs. Develops the creative assets for learning measures and effectiveness to enhance employee skill development. This is a highly visible position and entails frequent interaction with business leadership. Maintains relationships will colleagues within other areas of the organization and keeps current on all best practices. This position will report to the VP of Training and Development and will interface directly with leaders of Sales, Operations, Product, and other Strategic Partners across OWL. Additionally, the role will collaborate cross functionally with Marketing and Communications.

Responsibilities

  • Directs the design and development of training programs and provides leadership, coordination, and development of training programs that support the people development skills.
  • Owns the training experience end-to-end by helping to build courses and training assets, enroll employees in courses and supports questions and gathers feedback to enhance program development.
  • Designs and develops the creative learning content tied to the employee development training strategy.
  • Leads the design and implementation of current and future people development programs (including level specific learning, professional development, and innovative online, virtual and social media learning programs.
  • Analyzes current practices, process, and standards to evaluate training opportunities and facilitates gap analysis to provide training recommendations across the organization.
  • Design and develops professional training courses for frontline leadership and other leadership development programs.
  • Develop and track training engagement metrics to ensure employees have a best-in-class experience.
  • Define and establish key metrics and training analytics to facilitate return on investment to measure the impact of training effectiveness.
  • Manages certification and train the trainer programs.
  • Manages all elements of the design and development of people development programs, to include assessments, design, development, delivery, and evaluation.
  • Manages the training vendor relationships.
  • Serves as a leader within the training team, challenges thinking, and demonstrates courage to bring innovative ideas forward to build a world-class training program.
  • Coaches employees to A player performance.
  • Develops internal training marketing and communication efforts and builds a brand for training programs.
  • Manages and oversees all learning technology and development tools, to include authoring tools tied to learning technologies.

Requirements and Skills

  • Proven track record designing and developing training programs at large scale tied to business strategy.
  • Experience leading the implementation of LMS or LCMS learning technologies.
  • Adobe Suite Premier and Creative Cloud experience, along with other graphic design tools.
  • 5-7+ years of instructional design, graphic design experience.
  • High degree of business acumen and strategic thinking.
  • Ability to influence change and gain buy-in through partnership and collaboration.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Design and agile thinking a plus.
  • 6-10 years of relevant work experience including project management in a fast-growing startup.
