Job Description

We are looking for a Building & Grounds Technician to join our Facilities team in Kent, Washington. The schedule for this role is Monday – Friday from 8:00 am – 5:00 pm with occasional work after hours/weekend.

This role keeps you engaged by having variety in your daily tasks from project management of contractors working on building projects to simple repair requests from any of our four WA buildings. This could be painting, carpentry, minor electrical, drywall, and other recognized building trade crafts to maintain, repair, or remodel our facilities.

If you are self-motivated, detail-oriented, and flexible about whatever work comes your way each day with experience executing projects on commercial buildings and infrastructures, we encourage you to apply for this exciting opportunity.

To be considered, we are looking for the following qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent with 3+ years of experience in an industrial or commercial facilities maintenance or a closely related field
  • Direct experience executing projects on commercial buildings and infrastructures. This would include understanding the steps on where to start and how to execute on typical requested projects —projects like re-carpeting a room, repairing a door, building a wall, etc.
  • Ability to work independently, as well as on a team. There is a lot of independent work in this role where resourcefulness, time management, and critical thinking are essential.
  • Professional experience interacting with third-party contractors (ex., lawn care, roofing contractors, janitorial, etc.)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office knowledge (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint) – you will be responding to emails, reviewing data in Excel, and could be preparing PowerPoint presentations for job justifications
  • Ability to read blueprints, for example, to understand floor layouts
  • Valid driver’s license with a good driving record

Additional experience that could make you stand out:

  • Project management skills and experience – you will be responsible for project managing small/medium scoped projects - understanding the steps on how to scope and requirement gathering from internal customers requesting work
  • Professional experience in managing third-party contractors (ex., lawn care, roofing contractors, janitorial, etc.)
  • Forklift certification
  • Knowledge in commercial building preventative maintenance programs and execution
  • Experience with job/project justification and budgeting
  • Understanding of local and state codes
