Job Description

Qore Engineering, LLC is presently looking for a licensed Structural Engineer with experience in, or willing to apply their engineering expertise to learn, Controlled Temperature Construction, Thermal Assessment and Repairs, Thermal Imaging, Blast Cell Construction, Freezer Cooler Construction, Dry Warehouse Construction, Loading Dock Renovations, and Frost heave repairs.

The Structural Engineer will be responsible for all facets of the structural engineering design of Qore Engineering design-build projects. This position requires a qualified and licensed structural engineer concerned with the design and physical integrity of industrial and commercial buildings and other large structures, solve technical problems, and assist the senior architect, lead engineer and project manager in meeting project goals. This position reports to the Managing Engineer and is in Ft. Worth, Texas.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Evaluates, selects, and applies structural engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria to meet project design specifications
  • Develops structural designs for industrial/commercial buildings and structures of various materials that experience multiple loading conditions, including extreme loading, i.e., high wind
  • Creates and develops innovative designs through collaboration with the Managing Engineer
  • Independently assess design requirements
  • Participates in quality control checks, maintaining quality standards in all work produced, checking computations, and/or reviewing designs and drawings performed by others
  • Conducts site visits to document conditions
  • Designs using 3-D modeling to produce sound structural engineering framework to the highest standards
  • Provides structural engineering services during construction activities by reviewing shop drawings for conformance with specifications
  • Assists in developing budget cost estimates for equipment, labor, materials, and other expenditures
  • Coordinates with other disciplines as required

General Qualifications and Skills

  • 10 plus years’ experience in structural engineering design
  • Present critical thinking capability for innovative design solutions
  • Demonstrates attention to detail and creative problem solving
  • Knowledgeable of government regulations, environmental hazards, and other time constraints, risks, and expenditures when planning and designing a project
  • Excellent analytical, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Capacity to work independently with minimal supervision and oversight
  • Have a passion for learning and applying that to design innovation

Technical Skills

  • General knowledge of the physical sciences and mathematics underlying engineering
  • Specialized knowledge of the theory of structures/strength of materials
  • Proven project management experience to deliver a design on time, and within budget
  • Industrial/Commercial Construction/Design Experience
  • Proficient with material design for Concrete, Masonry and Steel
  • Able to create 3-D modeling designs to run simulations and tests
  • Superior computer skills; well-versed in Microsoft Office Suite and structural engineering design software

Education and Professional Certification

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering with a concentration in structural engineering or equivalent from an accredited program approved by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET), masters preferred
  • Licensed as a Professional Engineer (PE) or Structural Engineer (SE); successfully passed all Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) and Principles and Practice of Engineering tests, administered by the National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying
  • Have, or be willing to attain the OSHA 30-Hour Training courses for Construction and General Industry supervisors
  • Participate in ongoing professional development
