Summary

Join a dynamic, committed, creative, small team of core administration based in Washington DC, and supporting team members across the Western Hemisphere, working to support and grow three innovative programs that are transforming lives and empowering communities through music. The Strategic Growth and Development Manager works from the organization’s Washington, DC WeWork headquarters to develop, support, execute and grow a multi-million dollar annual international development plan. Under the supervision of the Executive Director, the successful candidate will work well in a busy, self-motivated, bilingual environment that requires a high level of organization with attention to detail, and a proficiency in multitasking and prioritizing tasks, strong communication abilities with a range of stakeholders, creativity and initiative in managing and cultivating donors, and an ability to identify and adapt well to evolving needs and opportunities.

Qualifications

  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree

  • At least three years of relevant professional experience

  • An advanced degree in a relevant field of study preferred

  • Experience in a nonprofit/humanitarian organization preferred

  • Experience with fundraising preferred

  • English fluency (written and spoken), Spanish desirable

  • Ability and willingness to travel

  • Microsoft Office proficiency, including Word, Excel and pivot tables, PowerPoint

  • Experience with Adobe (Photoshop, InDesign) and website editing (WordPress) preferred

  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills

  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail

  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize assignments

  • Desire to take initiative on projects

  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team

Duties & Responsibilities

Development

  • Work closely with Executive Director and Creative Director to support all development functions

  • Maintain the donor database using Excel (using pivot tables) & Network for Good

  • Handle all incoming contributions (processing, follow-up, acknowledgements) and handle financial reconciliations with accounting team

  • Handle outgoing and incoming communications with existing and prospective donors

  • Create, implement and manage development campaigns:

  • Research and cultivate potential partnerships with corporations and individuals

  • Manage grant applications (either through contracted company or applying directly)

  • Oversee the development and successful implementation of the International Awards Gala

  • Engage the Board, Development Committee, and all existing or potential donors with regular communications

  • Organize tour travel experience for donors.

Office Administration

Coordinate overall administrative activities including, but not limited to:

  • Manage office communications (email, calls, etc.)

  • Negotiate the purchase of office supplies, equipment, etc.

  • Organize meetings and manage office calendar

  • Create meeting materials and write minutes

  • Manage mass mailing campaigns

  • Organize and execute holiday mailing

  • Organize and update contact database

Other duties as they come up.
