Creates and implements strategic Public Relations plans to position Norwegian Cruise Line brand favorably with the consumer and trade press through proactive and reactive media relations, events, press familiarization trips, media promotions, new ship launches and incident communications. Generates positive publicity for the organization and enhances our reputation utilizing effective public relations in order to attract customers.
Develop strategic, effective and results-oriented public relations campaigns, with a focus on Norwegian¿s strong new build program.
Work with developing story ideas. Proactively pitches consumer and trade media including print, broadcast and online. Assist with media requests for information, interviews and photos from all media. Work with various departments to provide accurate information. Schedule and prepare executive briefings for media interviews.
Write press releases, backgrounders, feature stories, speaking points, reactive and policy statements. Manage the development, research and dissemination of same.
Develop specialized press kits and information packets. Working with Public Relations Coordinator, monitor coverage and develop reporting that highlights achievements and successful placements.
Maintain excellent relationships with key consumer and trade press. Respond to press inquiries in a timely manner and act as support for press needs to ensure a comprehensive story.
Plan and approve group and independent press trips, in consultation with Senior Director, Public Relations. Oversee the coordination of group and independent press fams and handles all travel arrangements and correspondence. Monitor press coverage and follows up with press to ensure coverage following press sailings. Escort group press trips as needed in conjunction with others in department.
Assist with writing and maintenance of company¿s incident communication plan. Assist with statements and positive positioning of company during crisis situations.
Assist with media promotions, including broadcast productions filmed aboard ships, ensuring that company is featured in a positive light. Coordinate all logistics and details to ensure that production has minimal impact on ship¿s crew and guests.
Plans and organizes shipboard, shoreside and other promotional events as necessary.
Oversee international PR teams and development of materials, events, presentations and to ensure one consistent global voice for the Norwegian Cruise Line brand.
Work with Senior Director, Public Relations to develop strategic media plan for the inaugural launch of new ships. Supervise all inaugural publicity campaigns and outside PR agency. Manage special events for pre-launch media events and ship christening ceremonies. Manage and work with internal operational departments to ensure seamless integration for inaugurals as it relates to media onboard. Manage budgets and timelines and events on-site.

EDUCATION: Bachelor's Degree in Public Relations, Journalism or related field of study; or any equivalent combination of skills and experience
EXPERIENCE: 8-10 years of experience in public relations and event planning in an agency or corporate setting required; Consumer and/or trade media relations experience required. Travel or cruise line experience preferred.
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS: Excellent communication skills required, verbal and written, to effectively communicate with members of the media and management. Experience and knowledge of mass media and its workings. Must be detail oriented and have superior organizational skills. Must show creativity, initiative and good judgment. Decision making, problem solving and research skills. Assertive and participate as part of a team and open to new ideas. Good supervisory skills. Proficient with Microsoft Office software. Ability to work flexible schedule, including nights or weekends, according to business demands. Travel to domestic and/or international locations required.
