Job Description
Northwestern University Settlement seeks a dedicated professional with an appreciation for its mission. The English as a Second Language Teacher will be selected based on alignment to our mission and vision, relevant experience, and demonstration of potential to yield excellent educational outcomes for our scholars.

Key Duties/Responsibilities

  • Utilize evidence-based practices to develop lesson plans
  • Use various strategies to reduce anxiety and improve scholars' confidence in the English language in reading comprehension, writing, listening, and speaking
  • Ability to differentiate instruction for our diverse learners
  • Frequently assess scholars to review their understanding of the lesson
  • In addition to the duties expressly provided above, the ESL Teacher shall from time to time perform such other duties and functions as assigned by their direct supervisor

Education/Experience

  • Hold a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in education, Master’s degree preferred
  • Hold a current Illinois Educator License with ESL and/or Bilingual endorsement
  • Fluent in Spanish is highly preferred

Compensation
