The Patient Advocate is responsible for ensuring that the administrative portion of the patient visit is satisfying to the patient, is accurate and is efficient. The patient advocate verifies the identity of the patient, processes insurance, and coordinates the registration process for all convenient care patients: patients to see the physician, occupational health, out-patient lab, x-ray - including mammography and pre-admission testing patients. The patient advocate meets the communication needs of the patient, family and departmental medical staff.
He/she is capable of setting priorities and of handling emergency situations in a calm manner. The patient advocate is responsible for the collection of co-payments, prior balances and any payments due from that day's visit. Requirements: Preferred one year's experience in a clerical position.
Education: Minimum: High School Graduate.; Preferred: Some college.
