SUMMARY OF JOB DESCRIPTION

The Infrastructure Superintendent of Overhead Electric will provide Effective leadership Management of the internal and/or contracted engineering staff assigned to the pole replacement activities throughout the Montana Distribution System. The Superintendent will also aid in the development of capital forecasting, reporting mechanisms, business processes, contracts, and quality control to provide complete compliance with the project objective. The positions primary objective is the oversight and control of the design and construction of Overhead Electric facilities as they relate to Infrastructure and other elements as specified by the asset management group.

DESCRIPTION OF ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Ensure all actions are consistent with NorthWestern Energy's values, mission, and strategic business objectives
  • Ensures project compliance, overhead line design approval and oversight of auditable guidelines, policies, practices, organization standards and federal and state government regulations relating to design solutions (NESC and the NEC)
  • Receives guidance and oversight from Manager of Central Construction
  • Plans, directs and sets priorities with reporting staff to ensure timely task completion
  • Coordinates construction activities with local division managers to optimize internal crew use and scheduling
  • Provide proactive customer project awareness and investigates and resolves customer concerns
  • Participates in forecast and management of the capital and expenses budget with emphasis on cost optimization
  • Proficient with the use of DDS, Microsoft products, Crew Manager, Power Plan and SAP enterprise software
  • Provide training and guidance to internal staff and external contractors as required
  • Participates in the development and maintenance of an executive management project dashboard
  • Conducts quality control visits and assessments
  • Most job time is spent in office environment, with some exposure to field environment & weather
  • Occasional lifting of materials up to 30 pounds required
  • Statewide travel up to 30% and extended hours may be required

GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS

  • Demonstrate and maintain a good safety record
  • Must possess strong interpersonal communication skills
  • Applicant must have a BS degree in Engineering and a Professional Engineer's License
  • Ability to handle multiple conflicting tasks while managing stressful situations
  • Must possess strong interpersonal communication and ability to develop and refine effective leadership skills
  • Must be highly organized and able to provide clear direction and expectations to reporting staff
  • This position requires a general understanding of work quality and inspection techniques
