Title: System Administrator
Director of Operations & Technology and to those on the NBEC organizational chart to whom that
Assists in the design, installation, operation, and maintenance of the NWOCA program server infrastructure. Performs computer system management, maintenance and troubleshooting for the NWOCA program and its member districts.
Working knowledge of Windows and Mac OS operating systems, computer troubleshooting, and a mechanical aptitude for fixing equipment.
Experience with server related technologies including Windows servers, Linux servers and virtualization.
Familiarity with DNS, DHCP, Active Directory and file sharing protocols.
Familiarity with NIST Security Controls and industry security best practices is a plus.
Position requires travel in a specified region using an employee-provided vehicle.
A record free of criminal violations that would prohibit employment in the public sector.

Effective interpersonal communication skills are required.

Work with the Director of Operations and Technology or the assigned Supervisor to review, recommend new server technologies that meet the following criteria: efficiencies and cost reductions to member districts and NWOCA and provide value added services for our customers.
Assist the Director or the assigned Supervisor in designing an overall systems strategy and examine future opportunities.
Monitor and maintain system and software revision levels.
Apply patches and system upgrades as needed.
Schedule and perform management tasks during our maintenance window.
Work with member districts on support requests related to the district network, clients and servers.
Work in conjunction with the IT Services staff to resolve problems or implement new technologies.
Perform maintenance of network and computer system peripheral components as assigned by the Director or the assigned Supervisor.
Assist in the maintenance of a current inventory of NBEC assets and specific supplies.
Assist in user training as assigned.
Perform hardware and software testing.
Uphold board policies and follow administrative guidelines/procedures.
Respect privacy. Maintains the confidentiality of privileged and sensitive information.
Keep current with technology, workplace innovations, and obtain relevant training that support job functions.
Maintain open and effective communications. Promote the organization’s mission, philosophy, and vision. Serve as an information resource as needed.
Assist users in accessing and utilizing NWOCA program resources effectively.
Cooperate with all NBEC personnel as well as with the public.

The purpose of the NBEC is to provide educational entities in greater northwestern Ohio access to a variety of cooperative administrative services thereby reducing the cost of obtaining these services. Currently, the NBEC provides data processing services through its Northwest Ohio Computer Association (NWOCA) subsidiary; assists in the preparation of financial reports and offers a wide range of professional development opportunities to employees of its member districts.
