Job Title: Watershed Programs B-STEM/Paraprofessional Intern

Department: Watersheds Programs

Anticipated Length of Assignment: 12 Months

Job Description:The intern will assist with various projects throughout the assignment, including, but not limited to:


Project Title:Stormwater Billing Support
-Analyze and update impervious area (IA) dataset to support the Regional Stormwater Management Program and other activities Perform data analysis, QA­ QC and updates in accordance with billing procedures/guidelines. Performs data research to support QA-QC task including County Parcel Auditor sites and Billing Agent systems. Develop products (maps, data, and reports) to document progress on QAIQC tasks

Project Title:Community Discharge Permit Program Support
-Provide OUPS ticket support by researching area referenced in ticket, identifying related drawings in GIS and providing supporting information to requestor
-Assist with construction plan review process

Project Title:Watershed Programs Support
-Assist in administering the Educational Economically Disadvantage (EEO), stormwater education fee credit, and residential fee credit programs
-Assist with customer service related to the Watershed Programs. Review customer inquiries. Create maps and documents. Recommend follow up action to Watershed Team Leaders
-Perform field work support and data collection as requested, may include inspections of streams and or stormwater management practices

Project Title:Regulatory Compliance Support
-Perform QA/QC checks required for reporting to Ohio EPA, USEPA, Cleveland Department of Air Quality and other regulatory agencies. Track requests and progress in department tracking system
-Assist in completing monthly and quarterly environmental site inspections at each District facility
-Assist in review of District engineering design projects and screening of projects for environmental needs
-Document procedures for tasks performed

Other duties as assigned

Minimum Job Requirements:
-Candidate must be able to work 40 hours per week. Working hours are Monday - Friday during normal business hours
-Candidate must be able to commit to up to a 12-month assignment with an option to extend the assignment at NEORSD's discretion. This internship program provides for a time-limited role at NEORSD with no express or implied guarantee of future employment beyond the assignment period. This position is governed by all applicable NEORSD administrative policies, practices and procedures related to temporary employees
-The District requires protective footwear (i.e., steel or composite-toed) when working in the plants, pump stations, construction sites, public rights-of-way and other posted areas. New hires are required to have protective footwear, meeting the following criteria, on the first day of employment: 1) Must be ANSI 241-1999 or ASTM F-2412/2413 (2005) certified, 2) Must have a steel or composite protective toe, 3) Must be, at a minimum, a 6" work boot or 6" hiker-style boot (Note: shoes are not permitted), 4) Must have a slip-resistant sole. It is also recommended, but not required, that footwear be waterproof and have included a shank to protect the bottom of the foot
-Candidate must possess a valid driver's license with a driving record in accordance with the District's acceptable guidelines

Education Requirements:
-Candidate must be enrolled in a bachelor degree program or better with a declared major of Engineering, Engineering Technology, Geography/GIS, Environmental Sciences, Information Systems, Geology, Planning or a related field of study of study. This position may include those that have graduated from a related program within 24 months of the date of application.

Salary Information
$14.26 per hour or $17.98 per hour
