Entry Level (Trainee) Behavioral Therapist

Registered Behavior Technician

The behavioral therapist is a paraprofessional who practices under the supervision of a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) or Assistant Behavior Analyst (BCaBA). The behavioral therapist's primary responsibility is to provide direct, day-to-day treatment of plans developed by a supervisor to clients in an effort to reduce maladaptive behaviors that interfere with the client's ability to have meaningful relationships, participate in social and community situations and events, and develop lifelong skills in key areas such as communication, socialization, and behavior. The behavioral therapist does not design intervention or assessment plans. It is the responsibility of the designated supervisor to determine which tasks a behavioral therapist may perform as a function of his or her training, experience, and competence.
