Job Description

The North Central Louisiana Arts Council (NCLAC) is seeking an Executive Director to work fulltime under the supervision of its board of directors to oversee operations of the non-profit arts organization and its programs. NCLAC seeks to nurture the arts by cultivating opportunities for creative expression, sharing our diverse arts and culture, and enhancing and promoting participation in and awareness of the arts and humanities in Lincoln Parish in north central Louisiana. Operations and Program Administration

Membership Management: The ED oversees a membership database. This includes recording members and their payments, an annual membership drive, and observance of membership benefits.

Fundraising for Programs: The ED will work with the board members (1) to supervise fundraising events, (2) to identify private individuals and foundations and regional and national corporate funding sources, (3) to write grant applications and ensure proper follow-through on and administration of grants that are awarded, including those from the Louisiana Division of the Arts and regional arts organizations, (4) to develop presentations about programs and projects for potential donors, and (5) to make presentations to solicit funds, set up endowments, seek sponsorships, etc. The ED works with a volunteer committee to plan, prepare, implement, and present its primary fundraiser, ARToberfest, the area’s largest beer-tasting/music event held annually each fall.

 

Daily operations: The ED performs daily operations, including maintaining the NCLAC office and records, checking mail and email and responding appropriately, invoicing, bill paying, and other tasks deemed necessary by the board.

  • Bookkeeping: The ED uses QuickBooks Online to manage the financial affairs of NCLAC, overseeing all monies going in and out of the NCLAC office. The ED writes checks to vendors for services, and to artists for commissions, awards, and performances, etc. The ED records and deposits ticket sales, sponsorships, memberships, donations and grants.
  • Staff Management: The ED is responsible for hiring staff, typically an assistant, as well as student interns with board approval. NCLAC is close to Louisiana Tech and Grambling State Universities, and has been able to hire excellent interns from a variety of programs.

 

Qualifications and Application Details

Degree(s) in the Arts (visual, performing, literary, etc.),Arts Administration, Business, related field, or equivalent experience (10 years); business, public relations, business and grant writing, public presentations, computer skills and software knowledge (including Adobe InDesign and QuickBooks), board development, volunteer/staff supervision, and fundraising experience preferred.
