Essential Job Duties:
The Clinical Assistant Professor of Avian-Exotic Medicine will work with a team of clinicians within the exotic animal medicine service. The selected candidate will:
+ Provide high quality effective and efficient patient care for a variety of exotic animal species. Clinical responsibilities will entail all of the duties associated with case management (client and referral veterinarian communication, development of a diagnostic and treatment plan, interpretation of diagnostic findings, implementation of a treatment plan, surgery, post-operative care, development of a home care plan, fiscally responsible management).
+ Provide clinical expertise with strong skills in exotic companion mammal medicine.
+ Participate in high-quality clinical teaching for veterinary students and house officers.
+ Conduct clinical research focused on clinical issues that present in the exotic animal population.
The Clinical Assistant Professor will also participate in the emergency roster.
Other duties as assigned.
Requires doctor's degree, an equivalent degree, or equivalent professional experience.
Must possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills and a demonstrated ability to work with others in a collegial team atmosphere.
Aptitude for teaching and mentoring veterinary students and residents. A commitment to excellence in teaching.
The ability to lift up to 30 pounds with or without reasonable accommodations.
Board certification in ACZM.
Experience with teaching DVM students.
Required license or certification:
Must have met requirements for a North Carolina Faculty license or a North Carolina Veterinary license prior to starting.
Valid NC driver's license or the ability to obtain one within 30 days of start date.
