Job Description:

As Director of Business Development for the freight brokerage branch, you will be at the forefront of showcasing our services to new prospective customers and finding the right logistics solutions. You will be responsible for prospecting, engaging, and closing new accounts to build and develop a book of business. You’ll be in daily contact with potential small to Fortune 500 customers working to build relationships, analyze their business, and assess how our services will meet their needs.

Responsibilities:

  • Plans and executes direct prospecting activities to develop a portfolio of clients that will result in increased new business, revenue, and gross margin
  • Focus on your existing relationships or cold calling to introduce our Company and build a sales pipeline
  • Establish multi-level relationships with key decision-makers to identify new potential business opportunities, build strategic relationships, and designs solutions to meet their business needs
  • Screen potential business deals by analyzing truck capacity requirements and evaluating service options through asset or freight brokerage services
  • Manages all aspects of the sales process on all opportunities, including initial qualification, evaluation, close, and implementation. Collaborates internally with various teams on pricing strategy and account implementation plans
  • Close and implement new business by upselling the company service offerings to meet and exceed the organization sales and gross margin goals
  • Meet deadlines to participate and submit request-for-proposal (RFP) for new client’s national and regional transportation bids.
  • Have a clear understanding of the Company service offerings to customers; stay up to date on industry trends and regulations; maintain a nimble approach to continuous changes in the logistics industry
  • Maintain complete and accurate records of all sales activities in assigned CRM tools
  • Review weekly/monthly sales activities and prospective customers with executive leadership
  • Other responsibilities and administrative duties as required

Qualifications:

  • Sales experience in the transportation and logistics industry. If candidates have previous experience in asset and freight brokerage, preferred
  • Results-oriented individual motivated by performance compensation
  • Strong passion for sales with an enthusiastic, entrepreneurial, and confident demeanor
  • Strong presentation skills and ability to lead strategic level conversations
  • Strong interpersonal skills with excellent written and organizational skills
  • Excellent communicator with a strong ability to persuade, motivate and influence others
  • Ability to collaborate with management and work in collaboration with various departments
  • Computer skills with a working knowledge of Excel, Word, and PowerPoint

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or related field preferred.
