Job Description

The Staff Accountant plays a key role in dynamic company involved in many aspects of cannabis delivery in a compliant and permitted environment. Our team is committed to professionalism, integrity and has high standards of productivity and work quality.

Job Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Assist with month-end closing; (i.e., prepare monthly closing entries for cash, prepaid expenses, and other accounts)
  • Assist the accounts payable (AP) manager with monthly fixed asset activity, depreciation, and disposals
  • Process invoices for the delivery locations
  • Assist the payroll supervisor with payroll processing, manual checks, and other duties. Act as the backup payroll clerk in the absence of the payroll supervisor
  • Assist the senior accountant with bank reconciliations and cash postings
  • Assist with inter-company reconciliations and billings
  • Prepare bank deposits for armored transport pickup
  • Coordinate and assist with requests from other departments
  • Assist with the year-end audit process
  • Act as a back-up for all other accounting functions in the absence of others in the department
  • Perform projects as assigned or requested.

Critical Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required, emphasis in accounting or finance preferred
  • One to three years of accounting experience required
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Strong computer skills including; MS Office applications including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Communicates in a clear, friendly, professional, and proactive manner
  • Able to work under pressure while still being accurate
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and follow through to meet deadlines
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-entity environment
  • Possesses a “can-do” attitude and is willing to accept new challenges
  • Sensitivity to confidential information
  • Reliable transportation
  • At least 21 years of age

NorCal Cannabis Company offers a competitive compensation and benefits package, unlimited PTO, stock options and a collaborative work environment in an emerging market. The job description is representative of typical duties and responsibilities for the position and it is not all-inclusive. Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned by the company to fluctuate with business needs. This role will report directly to the Controller Manager.
