Nonotuck Resources Associates (www.nonotuck.com) is a community-based agency that provides shared living to people with intellectual disabilities and acquired brain injuries. We support people who need assistance to remain living in the community. The individual and shared living provider share a home; the shared living provider must have an extra bedroom.
We are looking for a shared living provider to support a young person in their early 20’s. The ideal provider would be a single person or couple with no children in the home who is open to supporting someone whose independence and social connections are important to her. L. would like to live in the Leominster or Worcester area. She is very independent and social; she enjoys spending time with friends, both old and new, in the community. She has many friends that she makes plans with and also seeks out new relationships. She can use public transportation. L. loves swimming, going to beaches, parks and pools; shopping, getting her hair done, going out to eat. L. would like to get a job in retail. Ideally, she would like to get her GED and go to cosmetology school. L. is very neat and clean. She is looking to live in a quiet, supportive environment. She values her privacy. L. has a close relationship with an aunt who lives in the center of Townsend.
L. is diagnosed with anxiety and depression and changes can increase her anxiety. The Shared Living Provider should be caring, accepting and supportive. The duties of the shared living provider will include but not be limited to assisting the individual to build on and maintain independence by being able to participate in activities of daily living (ADLs) such as regular household routines, community activities/outings. Care Providers would be responsible for helping with grocery shopping, cooking, housekeeping, laundry, routine budget management, medication management, and medical appointments.
The following resources will be available: generous stipend, 24- Hour emergency on-call assistance, monthly in-home visits from a Care Manager, access to clinicians for additional support, training on home safety skills and medication management
- have a valid driver's license
- own their own vehicle
- pass a standard CORI (Criminal Offender Record Information) and fingerprinting check
- provide a separate bedroom for individual
- certified in First Aid/CPR
