Nitto Denko Technical Corp has one immediate opening for a highly motivated and creative chemist to join our location in Oceanside, CA. This position seeks a chemist who has broad knowledge and experience in various organic compounds, product developments and adhesive related product processing, and familiarity with analytical techniques used in mechanical, thermal, polymer compounds, additives, materials, and polymer related products.
Essential Job Requirements
MS or higher in Organic Chemistry or Thermal Materials and Engineering in a closely-related field; > 5 years industrial experience in an R&D setting
In-depth knowledge of developing and formulating new products in the broad fields of organic, inorganic and hybrid materials with various applications.
In-depth knowledge of conducting and specializing in diverse analytical techniques and instruments in various polymers, epoxy related compounds, mesogenic related compound, organic crystalline.
Broad experience of conducting and modifying different types of sample pretreatments, mixing/compounding, coating, pressing, lamination, and transferring processes.
Broad experience of developing and conducting diverse evaluation methods in formulated products and related materials.
Strong awareness of safety of chemicals and reactions, ability to handle materials that are sensitive to air, light, and moisture.
Highly motivated and self-driven individual with the ability to work independently, and multi-task under aggressive timeline to support team and corporate objectives.
In-depth knowledge of structure-property relations and materials properties; ability to design materials to desired properties
Broad experience in polymers such as epoxy resins, mesogenic compounds, polymerization, surface modification of inorganic substances, etc.
Experience with thermal conductive polymers
Proven ability to follow detailed SOPs and perform analytical techniques such as GC, LC-MS, FTIR, UV-Vis, and NMR
Broad interests and willingness to take on relatively undefined challenges, excellent problem-solving abilities, creativity and ability to work in cross-functional teams.
Duties and Responsibilities
Develop and formulate new products in the broad fields of organic, inorganic and hybrid materials with various applications
Maintain excellent laboratory records, and write reports and research summaries as required
Interact closely with other scientists to develop comprehensive solutions
Participate in intellectual property creation

Office/Lab environment. Lifting up to 50 pounds may be required.
