Purpose of the Position:
The purpose of this position is to develop and implement sourcing strategies to support the company's clinical and commercial CMO businesses. This position assumes the lead role in ensuring a robust and commercially viable supply chain supporting projects ranging from pre-clinical to launched status. As a senior member of the Operations team, this position assumes responsibility for establishing the strategies required to meet current and future cost of goods, supply security, and overall supplier relationship objectives. In addition, this position is responsible for continuous improvement efforts to remove waste and reduce costs within the supply chain from procurement through product delivery.

Key Job Responsibilities:
Develop and implement sourcing strategies, negotiate contracts, and develop supply agreements for raw materials, equipment, commodities, and services that help ensure cost effectiveness, reliability, and appropriate compliance.
Work closely with various business planning functions to maintain the appropriate inventory levels, lead times, and delivery of goods and specified services.
Gather data and analyze critical aspects (capacity, quality, financials, etc.) of potential and existing suppliers to develop appropriate strategies and propose recommended actions to senior management.
Manage procurement personnel and processes to effectively support multiple site demand as assigned by upper management.
Develop, implement, and direct company strategies to assess and mitigate supply risks by effectively leading or participating in cross-functional efforts as required.
Develop, implement, and lead critical supply management initiatives to facilitate cost improvements throughout the company's procurement system.
Support supplier selection and verification activities via audit participation, research, references, and other methods as required.
Lead and support continuous improvement activities driven by a system of periodic metrics reporting and analysis.
Oversee and support the company's ERP and documentation systems as they relate to procurement operations.
Ensure that all external suppliers and internal procurement systems meet relevant cGMP, EH&S, and other regulatory requirements and guidelines.
Other duties as required.

Job Knowledge/Experience/Education:
BS degree in related field. MBA with emphasis in supply chain management highly preferred.
Excellent and proven negotiation skills including experience with developing and integrating collaborative supply partnerships.
Minimum of 10 years of strategic sourcing experience within the biotechnology, pharmaceutical or similar regulated environment.
Demonstrated ability to think and plan strategically - including strong verbal and written communication skills.
Strong interpersonal and organizational leadership capabilities including experience with driving continuous improvement through metrics.
Specific APICS courses or certification related to Supply Chain Management are a plus.
The jobholder must have excellent PC skills and be fully familiar with MRP-11 principles and ERP applications that support planning. Experience with Oracle is preferred.
Analytical thinking, excellent problem-solving skills, concern for impact and ability to explain complicated issues to all levels within the organization are a must for the position.
