Full Charge Freshbooks Bookkeeper for Marketing Agency, Remote Position, $20/hr
Who Are We?
Nirvana is a flexible, forward-thinking digital marketing agency offering the following benefits to its team members:
the ability to work remotely from your home, favorite coffee shop, co-working space, or anywhere with great WiFi
a flexible schedule
a fun and supportive team that values your contributions
opportunities for advancement
We’ve replaced the physical office with online collaboration by coordinating projects and communicating throughout the workday using Slack (https://slack.com/features). We’re a small team, so with us, you and your input matter and help shape what the company will look like in the future.
Who’s the right fit?
We’re hiring a freelance Freshbooks bookkeeper (3-4 hours/wk, to start) for our small agency. A bookkeeper who is accurate, reliable, experienced with Freshbooks, and able to self-direct will find us an ideal client. We’re clear, responsive, and low-maintenance. Our systems are set up, and all we need is a capable and responsible bookkeeper to keep them running.
We’re marketers, not accountants, and we struggle with spreadsheets, accounting, bookkeeping, etc., so we’re looking for you to get that stuff out of our hair as much as possible so that we can focus on our clients, not our books. We’re looking for someone who can keep our bookkeeping running smoothly without us having to think about it. Or at least that’s our fantasy.
What will you be doing?
Generating daily reports in Freshbooks
Paying contractor invoices in Freshbooks
Generating reports in Freshbooks as needed throughout the week
Assisting with HR and tax requirements
Keeping our Freshbooks account up-to-date
Ensuring the accuracy of client accounting and billing in Freshbooks
Troubleshooting any issues with our time tracking software (Worksnaps) and Freshbooks integration
Ensuring W-9’s are obtained for all contractors and 1099’s are sent out
Responding to day-to-day requests and inquiries from contractors promptly - same business day whenever possible.
What You Need:
Precise and reliable bookkeeping skills. Accuracy is mission critical. Don’t ask us to check a report and make sure everything looks ok. Own the numbers. Walk us through why it’s correct.
Mastery of the Freshbooks accounting system. The day-to-day client billing and reporting that you’ll be taking over currently happens in Freshbooks.
Consistent availability to handle ongoing tasks. The tasks you’ll be responsible for are critical to our daily operations, so you’ll need to be reliable.
Ability to solve problems on your own with minimal supervision. You’ll need to be resourceful in getting things done in a way that takes up as little of management’s time as possible.
Superior written and verbal communication skills. We’re looking for someone who proactively communicates in a clear, easy to understand way.
Tech savvy. You’ll be working with tech support for our time tracking software (Worksnaps) to handle any issues that occur with syncing time to Freshbooks.
Experience working remotely, a plus. You’ll need to be great at getting things done virtually.
Reliability and precision
Attention to detail
A “can-do” spirit
The Nitty Gritty:
This job will start as an hourly position at $20/hr and will be about 3-4 hours per week.
A final step in the hiring process is for candidates to arrange personal reference calls with former supervisors as well as others we may choose.
