Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated, self-driven Procurement Associate that has the ability to perform in a dynamic environment. The primary responsibility of the person in this position will be to effectively support sales, production, and operations departments to ensure that customer orders are shipped on time as planned.

This position will be based out of our North American Headquarters in Glendale Heights, Illinois.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Prepare and issue purchase orders, prepare shipping documentation; communicate with vendors to insure conformity to specs and timely shipping
  • Receive purchase orders into inventory and provide supporting documentation to Accounting department
  • Maintain inventory levels that support both sales goals and inventory turns; maintain accuracy of inventory figures through routine monitoring
  • Prepare ship lists of required materials
  • Expedite operations that delay schedules and alter schedules to meet unforeseen conditions; communicate with sales regarding any sales order shipping delays via appropriate channels (phone, email, in-person conversation)
  • Daily review of open PO report and update production schedule as necessary
  • Create and maintain bills of material, and configure to bills of material as work orders dictate
  • Attend and assist with twice-yearly Physical Inventory process; this will require work outside of regular schedule, including coming in early/staying past regular shift and/or working Saturday
  • Work additional time as necessary to finish month end reports timely and complete ordering information to meet Nidec-Shimpo’s ordering deadlines
  • Assume other responsibilities as necessary and directed

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Associate’s Degree or some college
  • One to Two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience working with ERP and Microsoft Office applications, including knowledge of Excel (Pivot Tables, VLookup)
  • Knowledge of the manufacturing and assembly process and experience working effectively within it
  • Experience working and communicating with international vendors
  • Organization, follow-through, and neatness in work habits
  • Extreme accuracy and attention to detail, good record keeping skills
  • Innovative, self-motivated, flexible, requires minimal supervision
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or scheduled form
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations utilizing critical thinking skills
  • Ability to work with a wide range of people and personalities; possesses a high degree of emotional intelligence
  • Ability to communicate effectively and be comfortable with non-native English speakers; able to express cultural sensitivity across multiple cultures/countries
  • Knowledge of power transmission, drive systems and their applications – a plus
  • Working knowledge of shipping and receiving, both domestic and international
  • Experience working with offshore manufacturing a plus
