Research and Communications Analyst (junior to mid-level) – Food and Agriculture
Nexight Group is seeking a research and communications analyst with proven experience quickly becoming conversant in new technical topic areas, particularly related to food, agriculture, and public policy. An ideal analyst must apply their expertise to conduct desktop research efficiently, offer critical analysis, synthesize information to draw meaningful conclusions, and write original and engaging content (from in-depth studies to short talking points) that accurately communicates complex information.
Nexight Group is a small technical and management consulting firm working for a variety of clients in many topic areas. Adaptability, critical thinking, and genuine curiosity are all equally important to skills and subject matter expertise.
Applicants should have the necessary skills to perform the following job responsibilities:
Quickly build subject matter expertise and use it to effectively research, analyze, synthesize, and communicate complex topics, data, and expert viewpoints
Produce succinct, accurate, and well-documented analyses that synthesize complex information – understanding the difference between summarizing and synthesizing information – at a level appropriate to the target audience, from executives to employees, at all levels of an organization
Analyze qualitative and quantitative data, summarize stakeholder feedback, track and analyze trends, identify and prioritize key issues, and produce findings and recommendations to drive decision-making
Write concise and engaging content for reports, presentations, policy briefings, fact sheets, training material, and other outreach publications
Work individually and with a team to tackle research, analysis, and communications tasks that require strong critical thinking and analysis of complex problems
Ensure technical accuracy of materials at all times while improving grammar, punctuation, readability, style, flow, and persuasiveness to achieve objectives
Assist in engaging with subject matter experts to gather informed and original opinions, clarify specific trends, reach consensus decisions, and creatively solve complex problems
Work location will be Silver Spring, MD, and candidates may be allowed to onboard virtually (note that Nexight is currently permitting a limited number of employees to work from the Silver Spring office). Occasional work in Washington, D.C. may be required to support clients. All successful candidates will be required to provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination other than in limited circumstances where the law requires an exception.
