Sales Representative -MAPA

Job Summary:

The Sales Representative is accountable for managing required accounts (supporting Area Sales Managers with account relationships where needed) in helping to deliver top line sales revenue and profitability for the CCS Division. The Sales Representative will maximize the availability of our products in the appropriate channels of distribution consistent with our strategy with an emphasis on superior new product execution. The Sales Rep will utilize leading edge data, information systems, and metrics around financial, category trends to maximize market share, sales, and profits with our customers. This Sales Representative will build customer relationships at the DSM, Distributor buyer level and HSE, Safety Manager where appropriate, and facilitates connectivity in other functional areas. The Sales Rep deliver results while maintaining the highest level of integrity, and fosters an environment that generates breakthrough ideas and leads a collaborative and open organization that lives the values of Newell Brands.
 
 
Job Responsibilities: 

Market, Competitor, Channel, & Category Understanding: 
  • Monitors the competitors' brands and products as well as our market share, competitor market share, and target market share to understand opportunities and communicate to Area Sales Manager or direct reporting manager.
  • Utilizes best in class insights to identify potential customer strategies and commercial opportunities
  • Adopts value added, solution selling approach by understanding of our product portfolio, selling tools, brand positioning, brand vision and strategy.
  • Identifies category and conversion gap analysis opportunities within customer offering
Customer & Category Strategy Development:
  • Delivers innovative customer and category strategies for their territory/account portfolio using understanding of customer, market, and competition.
  • Delivers share gains by building robust account / end user conversion & usage expansion plans
  • Shares marketplace intelligence with our trade partners.
  • Supports the delivery of the strategic priorities, positioning of key categories, in strategic verticals with propositions that will grow our brand and share.
Customer Planning and Execution:
  • Executes methods to assist our channel customers in effectively and creatively winning with end-users, through site safety surveys and ROI analysis.
  • Sells the strategy and plan to channel customers in an effort to grow business for the customer and Newell Brands and to achieve internal targets and goals while accelerating the growth of the customer faster than the competition with a strong focus on both sell-in and sell-through plans.
  • Delivers customer strategies and plans (with channel, finance and supply chain where applicable) developed by brand management to achieve results in a profitable manner for Newell Brand as well as our customers, and to measure program/plan success to agreed metrics
  • Manages relationship with DSM, buyer, sourcing manager (distributor) and Safety Manager, Buyer (end-user)
  • Delivers timely communication to the customer on market trends and competitive activity
  • Presents new ideas, trends, and data and recommends pilot and test programs to the customer
  • Establishes trust and credibility by demonstrating clear understanding of distributor and end-users customer strategy
  • Applies negotiation techniques to customer interactions by asking thought-provoking questions to probe customer concerns/needs
Organization Development and Talent Management:
  • Completes Map for self
  • Takes responsibility for and identifies opportunities for personal development
  • Develops relationships with internal /external partners
  • Participates in recruiting events if asked
  • Participates in communities of practice relevant to the job role
Information Systems and Metrics:
  • Uses internal systems and resources, as well as external where necessary, to access sales numbers including customer, market data, category sales, and SKU level sales
  • Analyzes information and data provided by account regarding POS, turns, inventory, and GMROI (where applicable) to better manage their business and to be proactive with solutions and actions for SKU's, promotions or categories that are not performing to our customer's metrics
  • Achieves specified success metrics and for recommending improvement programs
  • Utilizes business planning tools to develop and track plans and spend
  • Utilizes central repository of market and customer data
Qualifications: 

  • Bachelors/University degree in Business Administration
  • 0-2 years sales/customer service experience or NWL, peer company internship
  • Persuasive / Sales Ability / Negotiation Skills
  • Initiative & follow-through
  • Analytical skills and attention to details
  • Project management skills a plus
  • Self-motivated with a strong work ethic and exceptional drive for results
  • Experience using Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
  • Proven ability to work in a cross functional team
  • Strong written, verbal, presentation and communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks and assignments simultaneously
  • Conflict Management/Composure; Technical Knowledge
  • Local Travel via Personal Car (geography varies by market)
