We have an immediate opening for a Field Service Technician to join our dynamic and globally recognized packaging equipment manufacturing company. New England Machinery is a successful, privately owned US manufacturer that designs and manufactures over 30 different models of high speed packaging equipment, including unscramblers, rotary cappers, lidders, pluggers, orienters and more!
As a Field Service Technician, you will travel to our customer locations and provide a level of service and support that reflects highly on our Company, differentiates us from our competition, and ensures complete customer satisfaction. This position has a direct and significant impact on maintaining our customer base as well as growing new business for New England Machinery. Key responsibilities include:
Installation/start up, testing, analyzing, troubleshooting, repair, upgrading, maintenance and various service tasks to support our packaging equipment in a variety of applications at customer sites. Able to troubleshoot mechanical, electrical and PLC issues on our packaging equipment.
Provide updates and modifications to packaging equipment at customer sites and train customers on the use and maintenance of the equipment.
Coordinate development activities and upgrades related to updating and improving machine functionality.
Interact, support and assist Operations, Engineering and Sales with customer equipment needs, order review, design reviews, assembly, testing and final acceptance tests to become proficient with the packaging equipment interface and integration.
Read and interpret operational manuals, electrical schematics and mechanical drawings for our packaging equipment.
Detect and report faulty operations, defective material or any other unusual situations in regard to our packaging equipment.
Use a variety of hand and power tools, meters and material handling equipment.
Maintain necessary machine configuration documentation during installation.
Produce timely and detailed service reports.
Provide support to customers, Customer Service and Sales, as required.
Documents service and installation actions by completing forms, reports, logs, and updating records.
Process detailed expense and trip reports on all service visits, in a timely fashion.
Travel on short notice extensively in North America as well as worldwide as necessary.
Travel up to 90% of the time; able to work overtime and weekends as necessary.
Assist with Factory Acceptance Tests, tuning and assembling equipment when not traveling to customer sites on service calls.
Technical school or high school diploma or GED or equivalent.
5 or more years of experience in servicing capital equipment; experience with packaging equipment a plus.
Valid driver’s license required; motor vehicle record must be in good standing and comply with company policy.
Willing to travel; must possess a valid US passport or be able to obtain one within 90 days of employment.
Able to work from mechanical drawings and electrical schematics.
Good basic electrical and mechanical knowledge.
Strong math skills.
Able to multi-task in a fast paced environment.
Detail-oriented; focused on accuracy.
Good problem-solving skills - able to analyze information gathered and identify potential problems or discrepancies.
Excellent verbal and written skills. Spanish is a plus.
Able to work individually as well as in a team environment.
Strong customer service skills.
Must have strong values and a positive attitude.
