New England Cancer Specialists (NECS) is currently seeking a full time Medical Assistant to join our Kennebunk location. The Medical Assistant will give top line care to a wide variety of patients dealing with cancer and blood disorders. Duties include, rooming patients, taking patient vitals/height/weight, completing review of symptoms forms, reviewing medications, assisting in the infusion center, phlebotomy and general clerical duties to assist in day to day operations of the office.

+ Facilitate office visits by greeting and rooming patients and preparing for the physician/APP visit- i.e. ht, we, vital signs, review of symptoms, review of medication lists, histories.
+ Draw blood/phlebotomy as needed
+ Intramuscular and Subcutaneous injections on various body sites
+ Assist physicians with procedures as needed
+ Assist in the completion of FMLA and Disability paperwork
+ Enter orders into the EMR and related systems for medication, laboratory and radiology services
+ Stock, inventory and order medical supplies as needed.
Monday-Friday work week, no nights.Weekends: Periodic: this position participates with other medical assistants in the weekend urgent care coverage 4-5 times per year. Travel: Rare
+ Must have a degree or certificate in Medical Assisting from an accredited school of Medical Assistance. 2 year Associates degree in a Credentialed Medical Assistant program strongly preferred.
+ You must have (1) of the following credentials or be eligible to obtain (1) of the following credentials, based upon the credentialing organization's eligibility requirements within 90 days of hire:
+ Certified Medical Assistant (CMA)- from AAMA, American Association of Medical Assistants
+ Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) from AMT, American Medical Technologists
+ Certified Clinical medical Assistant (CCMA) from NHA, National Healthcareer Association
+ National Certified medical Assistant (NCMA) from NCCT, National Center for Competency Testing
+ Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) from ARMA, American Registry of Medical Assistants
+ National Registered Certified Medical Assistant (NRCMA) from the NAHP, National Association for Health Professional.
+ Previous experience with insurance prior-authorization, medication refills, and preparing charts preferred.
+ Active BLS preferred
+ Experience with and ability to understand patient medical records, physician's orders and medical orders.
+ Understand an conduct yourself in accordance with accepted clinical standards and the ability to maintain strict HIPAA compliance
+ High level of computer skills and experience with electronic medical records (EMR's) is required
+ Ability to communicate with patients, family members, co-workers and providers in an effective and compassionate way.
+ Must have high level oral and written communication skills, typing skills are required.
