A busy Neurology Practice specializing in Epilepsy and Seizures is looking to hire a Full Time/Part Time EEG technologist to join the team. Our office is located in Marlboro, NJ and is conveniently located near most major highways.
Our facility features a state of the art 12-bed Long term Video EEG Monitoring Unit.
The EEG technologist is a vital role in assisting physicians in diagnosing patient conditions, by performing standard Electroencephalograms, AEEG, and VEEG. As part of the testing process the EEG Tech will gather a patient’s medical history, explain testing procedures, and prepare the patient for the procedure.
Responsibilities:
- Utilize the international 10-20 Electrode Placement Systems to measure, mark and apply electrodes to the predetermined positions on the patient/s scalp, notate any deviation from standard protocol.
- Apply electrodes securely, using the appropriate adhesive for specific procedure and/or situation.
- Verify and confirm acceptable electrode impedances based on the facility’s policies and procedures.
- Calibrate and adjust electrodes accordingly to provide top-quality recordings.
- Utilize specific montages based on patient’s age, medical history, complaints, known abnormalities, and facility’s policies and procedures.
- Perform appropriate activations consistent with hyper ventilation and photic stimulation based on patient’s age and medical history.
- Monitor the patient throughout the procedure using effective methods to improve patient cooperation and relaxation. While the test is being conducted, the EEG tech will monitor the patient’s status and note any abnormalities.
- Respond to patient call bells and or emergent situations for any in office admissions.
- Removes all adhesive/conductive material from the patient and appropriately cleans, disinfects, or discards electrodes/sensors following the procedure.
- Performs editing and filing of patient records.
- Maintain a safe and clean work environment per OSHA standards.
- Maintain all neurodiagnostic equipment in good working order.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Board registered required within 1 year from date of hire.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) through the American Heart Association (AHA) required.
- Prior EEG Technician experience strongly preferred, and or completion of Registered Neurodiagnostic program.
Neurology Center for Epilepsy and Seizures is the first of its kind independent epilepsy-focused neurology practice serving patients of all ages implementing an "Epilepsy Medical Home" model of care. We have our own 12 room video EEG monitoring unit, the only one of its kind in New Jersey outside of a hospital setting and the 2nd of its kind in the United States.
