Job Description

 

NeuBase Therapeutics, Inc., is developing the next generation of gene silencing therapies with its flexible, highly specific synthetic antisense oligonucleotides.The proprietary NeuBase peptide-nucleic acid (PNA) antisense oligonucleotide (PATrOL™) platform allows for the rapid development of targeted drugs, increasing the treatment opportunities for the hundreds of millions of people affected by rare genetic diseases, including those that can only be treated through accessing of secondary RNA structures. Using PATrOL technology, NeuBase aims to first tackle rare, genetic neurological disorders.

Based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, the Research Associate / Postdoctoral Fellow / Scientist I / Scientist II will play a key role in pre-clinical development for NeuBase’s drug discovery efforts.This position will be primarily based in the lab and will be the knowledge base for key instrumentation. Primary responsibilities will include maintenance and daily operation of these instruments. Compensation will be commensurate with experience and salary will be competitive and include stock options.

Responsibilities may include some or all of the following:

●       Flow cytometry

●       Confocal microscopy

●       Laser microdissection microscopy

●       qPCR and digital PCR

●       RNAseq, scRNAseq, NGS

●       High throughput screening

●       Assay development

●       Mammalian cell culture

●       Genetic engineering of reporter strains

●       In situ hybridization

●       Western blotting

●       Luciferase assays

●       Gel electrophoresis

●       Maintaining clear laboratory records for all experiments

●       Supporting the biology team with the day-to-day operation of the lab to ensure a smooth and safe operation, including the oversight and maintenance of working areas, equipment, waste, and chemical inventory

●       Assisting in prioritizing biology efforts to ensure timeline adherence and project alignment to meet company goals

●       Collaborate with professionals across the company and positively contribute to the overall culture

 Knowledge and Skill Requirements:

●       BS, MS or PhD in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or other related field with at least 1-2 years of experience

●       Must have experience in standard molecular biology, flow cytometry, microscopy, PCR and sequencing protocols

●       Excellent communication and multitasking skills with the ability to adapt to rapidly changing needs

●       Proven ability to work well with others in a dynamic and highly collaborative environment

●       Intellectual curiosity, a “Nothing is Impossible” attitude and a passion for our mission

●       Enjoy coming up with elegant and innovative solutions to challenging problems

●       US citizenship or green card preferred
