Nestlé Health Science is looking for a Senior Specialist, Packaging to join their team on a full-time, permanent basis. Based in one of our manufacturing facilities in Pittsburgh, PA you will report into the Head of Category Technical Applications Group (CTAG). The role is responsible for providing technical leadership as a senior packaging process specialist and to drive the implementation of strategic packaging initiatives, in-line with NHSc businesses to ensure competitive advantage and efficient project execution. Additionally, you will be responsible for ensuring compliance to global requirements of the business and the Group, as well as local legal, consumer and customer requirements. What will you do? As a Senior Specialist, Packaging your main responsibilities will consist of the following: Lead Packaging Initiative for the CTAG · Own and drive key packaging initiatives for the CTAG in response to business needs, including packaging sustainability · Maintain and evolve the initiative roadmap in close collaboration with NiM and NPTC colleagues. · Identify gaps vs Nestlé directives and guidance (i.e., The Golden Rules, Negative List, D2D, etc.) and propose actions to influencing stakeholders. · Provide guidance and knowledge transfer to the CTAG packaging team and business partners regarding requirements and improvement opportunities. Implement Innovation & Renovation Packaging Projects · Ensure on time and on budget delivery of projects in line with consumer needs, the business strategy, and the operational set-up · Work with cross-functional teams i.e. R&D, marketing, procurement, operations/factory, NPTC/TCU, suppliers, and networks to identify opportunities for industrialization of packaging innovations/renovations Ensure Packaging System Performance & Productivity, Continuous Improvement · Own/identify productivity opportunities to continuously improve overall packaging line performance · Execute projects, using tools and methodology from Goal Alignment and Focus Improvement pillars to drive TPM implementation · Enforce system standards and ensure compliance to specified requirements for packaging materials and to standard packaging line parameters · Leverage global packaging network to provide state of the art technical continuous improvements in the plants · Verify & execute project deliverables for capital, development, and productivity projects, and provide feedback to design through appropriate qualification protocols verifying system performance Provide expert knowledge for packaging processes mastership · Serve as coach and mentor to less experienced team members to build packaging process competencies to ensure mastership in packaging technologies · Own qualification protocols to ensure value chain requirements are being met · Deliver technical training to build competencies, serve as technical coach and mentor for more junior members of the team. · Develop and maintain packaging process capability understanding to drive performance and quality improvement initiatives Ensure Safety, Quality and Compliance of our Packaging · Ensure full compliance with company policies and regulatory bodies regarding packaging materials, operation, and quality standards, including CoC validation and documentation for food contact packaging · Drive quality improvement in our packaging in collaboration with factory packaging technology specialists · Collaborate with NQAC, NPTC/R&D and packaging technology specialists to implement packaging material monitoring plan Sustainability · Engage with R&D and commercial business to drive packaging material usage reduction and solutions with lower environmental impact in-line with the group packaging sustainability initiatives · Understand existing local waste management streams to prioritize sustainable solutions development. · Close internal and external collaboration to develop optimized long-term solutions Who we are looking for? · Demonstrable experience within a similar role is essential · Educated to degree level or equivalent within Packaging Science, Packaging Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field · Experience of packaging/process development in CPG or related field of work or factory environment · Strong knowledge of packaging material, filling and packaging operations and consumer/customer driven package design · Broad packaging experience in rigid and flexible plastic, resin, solid board and corrugated metal, glass would be advantageous along with experience in dry/liquid applications · Ability to lead and execute through others · Comfortable working in a fast paced and high performing environment · Strong communication skills with the ability to influence · Exceptional organizational skills and comfortable managing multiple competing deadlines and projects · Highly motivated whilst able to think critically and strategically · Comfortable working with all Microsoft packages in addition to SAP and CAPE Pack Palletization Program · A creative, proactive thinker who is adept at problem solving What we will offer in return…’the benefits package’ · Competitive Salary · Discretionary bonus scheme · Continuous professional development and training · Access to discounted organizational products · Discounted personalized supplement recommendations based on lifestyle, health history and individual needs · Employee recognition scheme · Competitive PTO allowance + public holidays · Generous 401k scheme · Comprehensive healthcare options · Company paid employee health programs inclusive of life insurance and short term & long-term disability · Employee Assistance Program What next?
