Description

The Armed Forces Retirement Home prides itself on the care for our veterans. The home is looking for experienced Registered Nurses to join its staff. We are looking to hire those who have the proper active license to practice as an RN and want to be a part of taking care of our veterans. The position is part-time as needed (PRN) and will be called upon to fill vacancies for full time staff. The perfect candidate would be a RN that is interested in part-time as needed (PRN) employment, weekday/weekend or holiday shifts. You would work alongside fellow caregivers to provide high quality patient care.

Requirements

• Current basic life support (BLS/CPR) certification to include cognitive and skills evaluation
• Active RN Mississippi license
• Attention to the detail in regard to the care of our residents
• Ability work at least three shifts a month
• Ability to work 4-, 8-, and/or 12-hour shifts in the morning, during the day and overnight

Qualifications:

• Citizenship: Must be a citizen of the United States.
• Language: English Language Proficiency; must be proficient in spoken and written English as required by VA Handbook, 5005, part II, chapter 3 section A, paragraph 3j
• Nursing Certification: RN certification and/or completed approved courses and required training. All contract employees shall submit certification and resume and be approved by the District Chief of Safety prior to commencing work under this contract.
• Genuine interest in working with seniors; attention to detail in regard to the care of our residents
• Experience working with geriatric patients would be a plus.
• Interpersonal skills to communicate with respect and compassion to customers.
• Uphold established patient care and practice standards.
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
• Excellent communication skills and customer service skills

• Vaccine Mandate:
  • Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is a requirement for all Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care Personnel (HCP).
  • Participation in the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) vaccination program is a requirement for all Department of Veterans Affairs Personnel.
  • Effective, November 1, 2021, all current staff and new hires must either be vaccinated or have one of the following: receiving the single dose of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine; or, the first dose of either the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine, 2nd dose will be required.
