As we celebrate our 100-year anniversary, we continue our long tradition of quality and excellence by placing our team members first, from safety and personal enrichment, to professional development, Neapco is excited to add a Supplier Quality Engineer/FMEA Coordinator to our team.  The Supplier Quality Engineer/FMEA Coordinator will be an expert in FMEA Methodology, supporting the Product and Process development analysis for automotive components and systems, verifying the fulfillment of the customer and internal requirements, and following the company procedures. The Supplier Quality Engineer/FMEA Coordinator promotes risk-based thinking, critical review and analysis of product and process risks, and recommends when to take actions for risk reduction, together internally, with the customer, and/or suppliers involved in the product or process development phase. This position will report to the Director, Global Supplier Development and is based at our World Headquarters & Technical Center in Farmington Hills, Michigan.  It is extremely important this team member be aligned with Neapco’s Core Values of Partnership, Passion, Agility, Teamwork, Integrity, and Diversity.  Compensation dependent upon qualifications. 

 

Job Description: Supplier Quality Engineer/FMEA Coordinator

Including but not limited to:

 

Key Responsibilities

·        Continuous training, facilitation, and support of multi-functional groups regarding FMEA methodology and tools including structural analysis, analysis functional, failure analysis, risk evaluation, and optimization value

·        Positively influence company culture to make FMEA activities routine behavior and assist with related new product development Advanced Quality tasks including but not limited to APQP, PPAP, and launch readiness

·        Develop and maintain foundation component FMEAs globally, incorporating new or changed requirements

·        Manage and update Neapco’s FMEA databases

·        Analysis and elaboration of customer requirements in terms of FMEA methodology and its tools

·        Monitoring of FMEA in all projects, assisting in FMEA presentation to internal and external customer if needed

·        Promote risk-based thinking, critical review and analysis of product and process risks, evaluates cost of quality in FMEAs and recommends when to take actions for risk reduction

·        Monitor and support of linkages among drawings, special characteristics, technical specifications, DFMEA, PFMEA, control plan, and other related documents as applicable 

·        Champion Neapco’s gap analysis review process with suppliers, Product Development and Supplier Development Engineers, Product Development

·        Execute annual FMEA reviews and global read across activities, incorporating lessons learned, and properly stored in corporate FMEA databases

·        Continuous self-training: Concepts, Logic, Methodology, Tool (software), Team Management

·        Partner with Neapco global divisions to identify, develop, launch, and maintain supply base that aligns with global sourcing strategy

  • Lead new program launches with supply base insuring alignment with their APQP process and Neapco requirements
  • Understand part characteristics, processes, and required process controls to monitor and achieve required specifications

·        Perform other duties as assigned

 

Required Skills

·        Extensive experience with FMEAs in the automotive sector

·        5 years quality experience in automotive manufacturing environment

·        Experience using FMEA software

·        Excellent collaborator, team-oriented, strong communication skills, integrity, pragmatic, and high emotional intelligence

·        Knowledge and experience with the automotive core tools, the basic quality tools, structure problem solving and root cause analysis tools, and cost of quality as it applies to FMEA development

·        Must be willing to travel up to 25% of time

 

Education

·        Bachelor’s Degree in engineering, or similar technical degree preferred, or equivalent experience
