Navarro Research and Engineering is recruiting a Safety Engineer II/III in Las Vegas, NV.

Reporting to the Health and Safety Manager providing technical expertise, leadership, and management of the H&S organization.
General Responsibilities and Knowledge/Skills:
Under supervision provides skill and ability to perform tasks.
Ability to perform tasks and oversight involving safety and health with knowledge of applicable rules, regulations, policies, procedures and reporting requirements.
Knowledge of construction safety, drilling operations, electrical safety, driving safety, and the DOE Integrated Safety Management System.
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively at the various levels.
Level of language skills, mathematical skills, communication skills, reasoning ability and computer skills necessary to perform essential functions of the job.
Demonstrated ability to perform substantially varied duties.
Demonstrated ability to handle the issues and questions from field personnel.
Demonstrated ability to execute procedures and processes as necessary to perform tasks.
Must be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite software.
Must be able to complete and maintain all training and qualifications required for the position.
Specific Responsibilities and Knowledge/Skills:
Ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy security clearance.
Maintains current knowledge of Federal, State, and local laws, regulations, ordinances, pertaining to H&S.
Follow strategy and goals for the H&S organization.
May be assigned to project teams.
Develops and implements inspection programs and procedures designed to ensure compliance with worker safety and health regulations.
Develops, implements, and monitors corrective measures to minimize or eliminate non-compliance.
Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety and Health Environmental Science, or related field, and at least 5 years experience.
Must have 1 years of experience at a DOE facility.
Education or experience that is job related may be substituted on a case-by-case basis.
Certification as ASP desirable.
Office related work includes data analysis, technical/scientific reporting etc. relating to field characterization activities
Requires sitting for extended periods of time
Fieldwork requires extended workdays as along as 15 hours; occasionally requiring periods of overnight stays. Working outdoors under temperature extremes, both hot and cold.
Must have or be able to qualify to wear respiratory protection.
Field activity work involves standing, walking, and bending; lifting up to 60 lbs.
Field operations are typically based at the Nevada National Security Site (60 miles NW of Las Vegas Nevada) other locations may be remote with considerable portions of the workday spent outdoors
