Summary
You will serve as a SUPERVISORY TRANSPORTATION SPECIALIST in the
PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT of NAVAL FAC ENGINEERING CMD WASH.

Responsibilities
  • You will review and analyze performance indicators, work
accomplishments, cost, and utilization of equipment and
personnel resources to evaluate work progress and control.
  • You will prepare reports, and brief the Chain of Command on
priority issues pertaining to transportation functions.
  • You will investigate and resolve crane program problems as well
as initiates and conducts investigations of crane accidents.
  • You will assist with development and administration of the
consolidated transportation Operation and Maintenance budget.

  • Generally, current federal employees applying for GS jobs must

  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of
retired military members within 180 days immediately following
retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid
United States driver?s license.
  • Within 3 years of assuming the position the incumbent must
achieve Certified Federal Fleet Specialist (CFFS) accreditation.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or
final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to
obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result
in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such
as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and
safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized
experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in
the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or
public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the
following: 1) Supervising individuals who perform transportation
work in support of the organization's fleet management program; 2)
Interprets policies from higher authority to determine extent of
impact and any changes that may be required; 3) Managing a
comprehensive transportation program that includes operations,
maintenance, management, and administration for a variety of
transportation and specialized equipment; and 4) Overseeing the
annual budget for the operation and maintenance of transportation
and specialized equipment.

This position is eligible for part time, full time or ad-hoc
telework at the discretion of management.

Physical Demands: Work is sedentary, being performed for the most
part while seated at a desk or conference table. There is some
physical exertion required when inspecting equipment, performing
first article testing, or visiting field activities.
Work Environment: Work is performed primarily in an office setting,
which is properly heated, lighted, ventilated, and devoid of unusual
risks or discomforts. The incumbent may encounter adverse weather
conditions and occasionally be required to wear clothing and safety
gear when inspecting equipment, performing first article testing, or
visiting field activities.
Due to sensitive mission of the installation assigned and possessing
critical transportation assets the incumbent may be called after
core/scheduled hours to address situation that demand transportation
guidance or involvement.
