Job Description

SUMMARY: The Data Analyst supports the development of the Cummins Clean Fuel Technologies Continuous Improvement culture for new business and existing operations by actively promoting and facilitating the use of data analytics.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Other duties beyond this representative listing may be assigned to the essential job duties and responsibilities of this position based on Company needs.

Work with Continuous Improvement Manager to prioritize business and information needs, including identifying critical metrics and KPIs, and delivering actionable insights to internal stakeholders.

Acquire data from primary or secondary data sources and maintain databases/data systems to empower operational and exploratory analysis.

Must possess the willingness and desire to support activities for new and existing operations, by maintaining existing data visualizations and dashboard enhancement requests

Drive underlying data systems improvement by working with key cross-functional stakeholders.

Utilize PLEX ERP, Excel, Tableau, and other software to analyze data

Interpret trends or patterns in complex data sets with the use of graphs, infographics, dashboards, and other methods to visualize data.

Utilize Tableau online as a repository for use by Managers and Employees in their respective areas. This will include outside access by Customers as well.

Support change through Data Analytics to higher levels of performance in safety, quality, production throughput, cost, engineering, sales, and front office processes.

Create presentations and reports based on recommendations and findings.

Evaluate the internal system for efficiency, problems, and inaccuracies, as well as developing and maintaining protocols for handling, processing, and cleaning data.

Perform other work-related tasks as assigned.

Analyze manufacturing, equipment, and quality data and extract useful statistics and insights about failures to drive meaningful improvements to production quality and customer experience.

Work closely with Controls, Process, and Quality Engineers to develop and improve data collection activities and reporting tools within a high-volume manufacturing environment.

Work effectively with Continuous Improvement Manager and conduct end-to-end analyses, from data requirement gathering, to data processing and modeling.

Interpret data, analyze results using statistical techniques, and provide ongoing reports.

Identify data sources where the potential value is not fully realized and invent new means with which to interact and gather insights from them.

Monitor key product metrics, understanding root causes of changes in metrics

Identify, analyze, and interpret trends or patterns in complex data sets and depict the story via dashboards and reports.

Perform data quality validations to ensure data creation is as per the business needs and expectations.

Work with management to prioritize business and information needs.

Assist with the development of performance metrics to measure sustainment of new processes that are established.

Demonstrate a high degree of proficiency in business operational shrewdness, good judgment, planning, communicating orally and in writing, business knowledge, and expertise within areas of responsibility. Show understanding and knowledge of key market trends.

QUALIFICATIONS AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS: The individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. It is required that the individual is accurate with good time management and organizational skills. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required. Education and/or Experience: Bachelor's/Master’s degree or higher in quantitative discipline (e.g., Statistics, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering) or the equivalent in experience and evidence of exceptional ability.

Technical experience in the domain of data analytics to include any of the following: machine learning, data mining, and distributed computing.

Strong analytical and quantitative skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy.

Data visualization experience (Tableau or Power BI), experience with SQL is a plus.

Self-motivated and results oriented with the ability to set and meet deadlines.

Ability to problem solve and identify areas for improvement.

Proven success in a collaborative, team-oriented environment.

Strong analytical skills with ability to combine and find patterns across multiple datasets.

Strong attention to details and data accuracy.

Certificates, Licenses and Registrations: Certified in Six Sigma Methodologies is a plus.
