Job Summary:

Native American Community Clinic’s Medical Department is seeking an experienced Medical Clinic Manager to join our team. This position will be responsible for directing, supervising, and coordinating Native American Community Clinic (NACC) Medical Clinic operations through oversight and direction of the Nursing, Medical Assistant, and Registration teams. This individual will seek to optimize access and productivity and integration of the departments. The Clinic Manager will model a culture of teamwork within the clinic to promote the highest quality care and alignment with NACCs values. Our clinic uses an integrated, person-centered approach to providing care to patients. The clinic is culturally specific but does welcome all patients. The integrated team includes but is not limited to medical providers, mental health professionals, Spiritual Care Specialists, and Peer Recovery Specialists. The ideal candidate will be committed to providing high quality, culturally responsive services in a fast-paced environment. Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Supervise team of Nurses, Medical Assistants, Registration Coordinators and scribes including but not limited to recruitment, hiring, orientation/training, and performance coaching & evaluation-- carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and procedures

  • Oversee clinic flow to optimize team productivity, ensure positive staff and patient experience— collaborates with provider, registration, and HIM teams to facilitate clinic flow and optimize patient care

  • Coordinates day-to-day activities of the patient care teams, including efficient and timely completion of huddles and pre-visit planning

  • Demonstrates excellence in leadership with staff: team facilitation, motivation, team building, training, coaching, change management, and goal setting. Leads by example by maintaining a personal standard of conduct and performance expected from employees

  • Balances team and individual responsibilities; exhibits objectivity and openness to others' views; gives and welcomes feedback; Contributes to building a positive team spirit; able to build morale and group commitments to goals and objectives

  • Plans, assigns, and directs work for assigned staff

  • Responsible for staff performance appraisal and management including rewarding contributions, addressing complaints, and resolving problems. Includes, but not limited to taking responsibility for staff activities; Makes oneself available to staff; Provides regular performance feedback

  • Conducts staff audits to ensure compliance and quality goals are met

  • Develops staff skills and encourages growth; solicits and applies feedback (internal and external); fosters quality focus in others; improves processes and services; continually works to improve supervisory skills.

  • Effectively communicates with providers, other medical professionals, office personnel, and patients.

  • Works with staff to achieve organizational quality and productivity benchmarks

  • Serves on the management team and shares responsibility for fiscal, medical, and administrative stewardship of the organization, including compliance, risk management, and quality improvement programs. Participates in departmental planning efforts.

  • Resolves problems related to staffing, utilization of facilities, equipment, and supplies for the medical clinic

  • Reinforces organizational policies and procedures and participates in the development and revision of policies as needed.

  • Maintain knowledge of current healthcare practices.

  • Purchasing of medical supplies and managing of medical clinic budgets

  • Other duties as assigned

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Responsible for Nursing, Medical Assistant, Registration and scribe teams; approximately 20 staff.


Qualifications:

  • RN, required; Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (B.S.N.), preferred

  • Active State of Minnesota Nursing License, required

  • 2-5 years primary care clinic nursing experience, required

  • 2-5 years clinical leadership experience, including direct supervision of nursing staff, required

  • Experience with RN care coordination, preferred

  • Experience supervising Medical Assistants and/or other ancillary clinical support staff

  • Prior community health experience, preferred

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

  • Frequently required to utilize hand and finger dexterity

  • Frequently required to walk

  • Occasionally required to climb, balance, bend, stoop, kneel, or crawl

  • Frequently required to talk or hear

  • While performing the duties of this job, the noise level in the work environment is usually moderate

  • Frequently required to lift or move 30-50lbs

  • Must be able to assist fallen patient if necessary

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus

  • An individual in this position may be exposed to:

    • Adverse environmental conditions

    • Bloodborne pathogens

    • Physical hazards (e.g. needle sticks, ECT.)

    • Chemical hazards
