Staff Accountant (Temp-to-Perm)

We are looking for an intelligent and highly motivated Staff Accountant responsible for providing support to the Accounting Department. This position will work closely with all the our regional offices and provide excellent customer service to all team members in various accounting matters.

Position Reports to: Controller

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Provide Accounting Support to the Finance Department
  • Process gift entries into Raiser’s Edge (donor database)
  • Work with regions to ensure data quality within Raiser’s Edge
  • Make daily cash deposits
  • Complete monthly bank reconciliations
  • Amortize prepaid expenses monthly into MIP-ABILA (General Ledger)
  • Monthly fixed asset additions, disposals and depreciation entries
  • Make monthly credit card fees entries
  • Record monthly cash receipts
  • Produce monthly contribution and pledge receivable schedules
  • Produce monthly profit and loss schedules for events
  • Quarterly balance sheet reconciliations
  • Collaborate with and communicate directly with regions on a quarterly basis to produce donor statements
  • Assist with the completion of schedules for the Annual Financial Statement Audit
  • Assist with the completion of schedules for the Annual 990, 990-T and 926 tax filings
  • Prepare ad hoc reports, schedules as needed

Skills/Qualifications required:

  • 1-3 years public accounting experience, preferably in a not for profit environment
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organization skills with high attention to detail
  • Strong project management skills and ability to balance competing priorities
  • Excellent Excel skills; pivot tables, lookup, macros
  • Ability to work well with all levels of internal management and staff, as well as outside clients and vendors
  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion
  • Must be adaptable and open to evolving job responsibilities
