Human Resources Generalist

The National Inventors Hall of Fame (NIHF) is seeking an ambitious and dedicated Human Resources (HR) Generalist to assist with nationwide recruitment initiatives, talent development, benefit strategy and administration, payroll and compensation, employee relations, HRIS system management, safety initiatives, and compliance reporting.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Partner with Senior Manager, HR & Administration on mid-to-senior level recruitment for NIHF to develop position descriptions, process position requisitions, post open positions across platforms, source candidates, manage applicant tracking system, review candidate applications, schedule and conduct interviews, research/implement/measure candidate assessments, generate weekly recruitment reporting, build external recruiter relationships, assemble offer letters, etc.
  • Develop comprehensive understanding of NIHF structure and open positions to aid in identifying qualified candidates to meet NIHF’s strategic goals
  • Recommend and assist to implement innovative sourcing strategies and recruiting programs/practices to help create a pipeline of diverse top talent
  • Continue the development of structured interview guides and provide interview training for hiring managers
  • Handle on-boarding/off-boarding processes such as background checks, new hire/term checklists, development of on-boarding program(s), distribution of orientation materials, HR trainings, terminations, exit interviews
  • Collaborate with HR team on professional development initiatives/tasks including training requests, research of trainings/programs, team-building initiatives, training tracking, promoting Litmos learning portal, creation of new trainings, career pathing, and employee performance management
  • Work with HR Associate and Facilities team on the on the development of safety and initiatives, OSHA record-keeping, oversight of safety committee, and safety training
  • Assist HR Specialist to administer employee health, welfare and retirement plans company-wide, providing benefit support to employees, gathering information for benefit audits, delivering enrollment meetings, FMLA administration, meeting regulatory filing requirements, and ensuring plans are administered in accordance with federal and state regulations and plan provisions are followed while adhering to HIPAA regulations
  • Assist HR Specialist in providing redundancy for payroll processes, compensation analysis/structure, compliance/audit reporting, and HRIS system management
  • Ensure compliance with company HR policies and local, state, and federal laws and regulations
  • Provide support to HR Team and CFO, as needed

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to work in fast paced, dynamic environment
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, able to deal with employees on all levels
  • Must be organized, accurate, thorough, and able to monitor work for quality
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and multi-task
  • Must be able to maintain a high-level of confidentiality
  • Ability to exercise sound judgement when making decisions and to effectively problem-solve
  • General knowledge of HR Laws including but not limited to ADA, FMLA, and COBRA, required

Credentials and Experience:

  • 3-5 years of experience in a HR Coordinator/Generalist, or similar role
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources or related field
  • Demonstrated proficiency with MS Office Suite
  • Previous experience with ADP HRIS system, preferred
  • SHRM or SHRM-CP certification, preferred
