Job Description

Positions

1. Registered Nurse - Regional Prevention Support Team; Infection Prevention Coordinator (1 position available)

2. Licensed Practical Nurse - Regional Prevention Support Team; Infection Prevention Consultant (3 positions available)

 

These positions will be part of a team to strengthen infection prevention and control in long-term care settings, focusing on those settings with less clinical and infection prevention infrastructure.

Specifics

  • 40 hours per week
  • May require weekend and after-hour work
  • In-state travel
  • Assignment through June 30, 2021 (with renewal anticipated)

 

​​​​Description of Work

Registered Nurse Coordinator

  • Serve as the coordinator for a team of LPNs who oversee 11 counties in NC
  • Responsible for coordinating the activities of the team
  • Work with team and long-term care facilities to:
    • review infection prevention practices
    • conduct infection prevention education to staff in these facilities
    • provide infection prevention guidance to these facilities
    • develop and/or revise tools to assist in the assessment and promotion of infection prevention compliance
    • assist in the investigation, control, education, prevention, and care activities to reduce morbidity and mortality associates with COVID-19
    • work in coordination with other departments to address identified infection prevention and control gaps
  • Perform other position-related duties as assigned

 

Licensed Practical Nurse Consultant

  • Serve as team consultant overseeing certain NC counties (11 counties in all; divided among 3 team consultants)
  • Work with long-term care facilities to:
    • review infection prevention practices
    • conduct infection prevention education to staff in these facilities
    • provide infection prevention guidance to these facilities
    • develop and/or revise tools to assist in the assessment and promotion of infection prevention compliance
    • assist in the investigation, control, education, prevention, and care activities to reduce morbidity and mortality associates with COVID-19
    • work in coordination with other departments to address identified infection prevention and control gaps
  • Perform other position-related duties as assigned

 

Requirements

  • Graduate of accredited Nursing program
  • Minimum two-years clinical experience in the area of infection
  • Active/Clear Registered Nurse license to practice in the State of North Carolina
  • Active/Clear Certification in Infection Control
  • Current BLS (American Heart Association)
  • Compliant with state healthcare regulatory requirements
  • Ability to follow care plans and/or clinical orders
  • Active/Clear BLS (American Heart Association)
  • Successful completion of competency testing, drug screen, background check, physical exam, immunizations, and other agency screening/application requirements
  • Successful completion of other Client screening/application requirements​
