Pension Member Services Representative

We are seeking a Pension Member Services Representative to join our team! You will be responsible for providing service to members of a Defined Contribution Retirement benefit plan.

Responsibilities:

  • Receive telephone and walk-in inquiries from members of the benefit plan.
  • Listen actively to determine specific purpose of call and/or walk-in.
  • Provide courteous, professional service, at all times.
  • Resolve questions and provide information to members and others in accordance with the benefit plan rules, regulations, and practices.
  • Communicate with stakeholders via telephone, email, in person and in writing.
  • Answer questions and resolve issues from members, beneficiaries, local unions, and other departments when within the scope of your knowledge and authority; .
  • Identify when it is beyond your scope of knowledge or authority to address an inquiry and refer it to the appropriate person or department.
  • Initiate and prepare correspondence to document all calls & walk-ins.
  • Process incoming mail and correspondence.
  • Process outgoing mail.
  • Process Retirement Applications, ensuring that benefit plan rules and regulations are followed.
  • Determine eligibility for retirement benefits by reviewing plan records and application materials.
  • Maintain organized retirement files in accordance with filing system.
  • Act as a liaison between retirement applicant and Defined Contribution Plan Recordkeeper.
  • Enter information on computer system.
  • Learn benefit administration software application.
  • Assist with special projects as requested.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma.
  • Responsible and dependable.
  • Committed to maintaining excellent attendance and timeliness.
  • Comfortable working independently in a small office located inside an office building.
  • Comfortable opening and closing office location at times.
  • Comfortable handling various office tasks, such as faxing, copying, filing, answering phones, handling incoming catering orders for meetings.
  • Excellent verbal, telephonic and written communication skills.
  • Enjoys being an individual contributor and a team-player.
  • Able to prioritize, organize and work efficiently, complete tasks with deadlines, transition from task-to-task and maintain focus.
  • Detail-oriented.
  • Able to troubleshoot.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
  • 2-4 years of customer service experience.
  • 1-2 years’ experience in employee benefit plan administration including understanding of health plan benefits.is a plus!
  • Knowledge of basys benefit administration software is a plus!
