Executive Director

National Balloon Rally Charities, Inc. is a well-known and well-established organization in Statesville, NC.  This organization manages the annual Carolina BalloonFest.  We are in need of an Executive Director. The Executive Director is responsible for promoting the history of ballooning in Iredell County and for planning and directing the annual BalloonFest event, held for 3 days in October each year.

Duties and Responsibilities of the Executive Director include:

·       Developing the annual vision with the Board of Directors for the current year’s Carolina BalloonFest event

·       Developing the budget to be approved by the Board of Directors

·       Attending area functions to promote ballooning and the BalloonFest event throughout the year

·       Securing a location for the BalloonFest event

·       Obtaining permits for the BalloonFest event

·       Promoting sponsorship opportunities and meeting with businesses to secure sponsorships

·       Developing and sending out packets to Sponsors, Vendors, Artisans and Pilots in a timely manner

·       Developing ticket packets and updating the BalloonFest website and social media accounts with the information

·       Contracting for all rentals needed for the BalloonFest event

·       Working with the Committees to review all applications and to secure all Sponsors, Vendors, Artisans and Pilots

·       Working with Committees to obtain and manage volunteers for the BalloonFest event

·       Managing layout planning and logistics for the BalloonFest event

·       Developing the official booklet for the BalloonFest event

·       Managing the finances for the organization, in conjunction with the outsourced bookkeeper

·       Planning the debrief event and celebration, including identifying the charities to receive donations

·       Providing financial reports to the Board on a regular basis

Qualifications and experience desired for the Executive Director:

·       Organizational skills

·       Non-profit management experience

·       Business acumen

·       Experience with Ballooning or Ballooning Events

·       People skills and the ability to communicate diplomatically

This is a salaried position with a varying work schedule.  Activities occur throughout the year, with the most intense period of activity between July and October.
