Senior Research Analyst

Position Overview

Senior Research Analysts play a critical role in all aspects of client engagements and in core
organizational activities of the Academy. The Senior Research Analyst is part of an integrated project
team and engages in project planning, primary and secondary research and analysis, and findings and
recommendations. Senior Research Analyst assists in coordinating, planning, and facilitating meetings
with Panel or Expert Advisory Group (EAG) members, and clients. Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills are key to
the successful performance in this position. This position is under the direction of the Project Director,
who provides senior leadership on each client engagement.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Providing subject matter and/or technical expertise to the study team
  • Reviewing and analyzing information provided by the client and/or developed by the study team
  • Interviewing client officials
  • Making presentations to the Panel or EAG on issues or study areas for which they are responsible
  • Drafting report chapters and other segments of reports
  • Quickly understanding client organization’s mission, structure, operations and scope of current requirement
  • Applying analytical frameworks and methodologies to guide primary and secondary research
  • Developing data collection tools in various formats (e.g., web-based surveys; interview protocols)
  • Understanding how to map organizational processes, develop metrics
  • Conducting structured interviews with senior and executive level stakeholders
  • Analyzing data using both quantitative and qualitative methods
  • Preparing written communication for a professional audience that is clear, accurate, grammatically correct, and engaging
  • Assisting in tracking and enforcement of project deadlines and schedules
  • Accepting input from Project Director and appropriately and accurately applying comments/feedback
  • Managing logistics of coordinating meetings with multiple stakeholders
  • Prioritizing multiple tasks effectively

  • Maintain a courteous and tactful manner
  • Proficient computer skills in word processing programs

Education and Required Work Experience

  • Advanced degree preferred
  • Minimum of five years of work experience in the areas of public administration, consulting to the federal sector, organizational research, and/or working with non-profit organizations
  • Demonstrated application of analytical, writing and presentation skills within the context of consulting projects, either at the Academy or elsewhere
  • Experience working in teams is required
