NDS Automation Engineer

Nammo Defense Systems Inc., a Defense Contractor, manufactures and supports shoulder-fired weapons; energetic material solutions such as aircraft emergency escape systems, actuation devices, rocket motors, warheads, medium & large caliber ammunitions, mortar ammunition; and composite solutions including carbon fiber tubes and composite aero-structures.

We are seeking an experienced Automation Engineer professional to join our team. As an Automation Engineer, you will be responsible for recommending, designing and testing automated machinery and processes in order to complete exact tasks, which include (but not limited to): operational efficiency gains, reduced downtime, production throughput increases and decreased costs.

The NDS Automation Engineer will work closely with the site Engineering, Operations, and Quality teams to establish an aggressive automation environment to ensure favorable cost reductions, increased throughput and quality enhancements within NDS.

This position will report to the Vice President, Shared Services with a dotted line into NDS Engineering Manager.

Primary Responsibilities:

· Exploring and implementing new ways to automate systems

· Designing and testing automation equipment and processes

· Programing and troubleshooting new automated components

· Identifying quality issues and writing reports

· Eliminating defects and errors with product and software development

· Collaborating with all NDS facilities

Qualifications and Required Experience & Skills:

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering or similar field
  • Proficiency in maintaining automation equipment
  • Experience with robotics, AI and other machines and instrumentation software
  • Experience with project management
  • Solid understanding of computer programming and software development
  • Ability to troubleshoot equipment and perform complex system tests
  • Strong leadership and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Creative thinking skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Ability to communicate well with other members of the development team
  • Ability to keep up with the latest technologies
  • A desire to continually upgrade technical knowledge
  • Willing to travel to multiple NDS sites and supplier locations when needed
