Job Title: Manager – Insurance Department
Reports To: Partners and/or HR Manager
FLSA Status: Exempt
Department: Insurance Department


To manage the insurance department and be responsible for all insurance matters for clients, as needed, by performing the following duties. Must have property and casualty, commercial, and medical insurance knowledge to properly manage client risks.

Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Track all policies and ensure all invoices have been received and paid in conjunction with third party broker.*
• Review insurance policies for new clients to make sure coverage’s and limits are sufficient. *
• Make recommendations to better existing coverage and point out exposures that may not be covered as appropriate. *
• Obtain quotes for commercial, personal, health, life, disability, and specialty insurance coverage’s as needed. *
• Review all new/renewals quotes and ensure premiums are competitive. *
• Provide summaries of insurance, including a comparison to the prior year (if applicable), as well as recommendations/opinions, via email to account managers and partners. *
• Request and/or prepare client insurance summaries for client meetings, ensuring current and accurate information and appropriate recommendations. *
• Provide premium breakdowns for all coverage lines when needed. *
• Maintain records of all insurance policies we manage for our clients. *
• Participate in conference calls to discuss insurance coverage, pricing and recommendations. *
• Reconcile and approve all insurance bills for payment. *
• Provide ID cards, premium information, policy/coverage information, add/delete/cancel coverage’s, etc. *
• Manage insurance claims process, including filing claims, filling out required forms/reports, informing applicable parties, set up inspections, rentals, doctor appointments, etc. and ensure proceeds are paid in a timely manner. *
• Participate in new employee interview, hire and termination process. *
• Supervise, train and direct insurance assistant and department staff on department procedures. *
• Communicate/contact brokers for policy changes, additions, etc., as well as specific out of the ordinary issues to ensure coverage is afforded. *
• Communicate with account managers or partners on insurance issues and obtaining client information needed for insurance purposes. *
• Supervise and manage staff, be on-site to answer questions, train and review performance. *
• Approve vacation and sick time requests for department staff..*
• Track and approve assistant’s time .*

Education / Experience:

High School Diploma
Bachelors Degree preferred
Insurance License preferred
Prior Insurance experience required, 5+ years
Prior Business Management experience preferred

Physical Demands / Work Environment

Occasional standing, walking, crouching, and light lifting
Frequent use of hands and reaching with hands and arms
Regularly talking, hearing, seeing, and sitting
Moderate to the loud noise level
Rare risk of electrical shock
