Registered Respiratory Therapist will provide skilled respiratory therapy to Veteran Affairs patients throughout the medical facility. The contract RRT demonstrates competence in caring for adult Critical Care - ICU, medical and geriatric patients.
Under the supervision of the Respiratory Care Coordinator, works closely with others as needed in Ambulatory Care, Critical Care, Nursing Home units or the Emergency Room.
The RRT functions both independently and dependently with guidance and direction from Respiratory Care Coordinator or designee. RRT shall have knowledge and skills sufficient to administer advanced respiratory care as permitted by approved local facility policies and procedures. Observation and documentation will include patient’s response to therapy and the reporting of any change in patients’ condition to the RN or MD/DO.
Education: Graduate of a state approved school of Applied Sciences.
Current, active, registration/license as a professional Respiratory Therapist in a State, District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.
A current CPR/BLS certificate by the American Heart Association is required (although AHA is preferred, other organizations may be considered).
