Job Description

This position, as the Chief Executive Officer for Cherry Hospital. You will be responsible for the operation and supervision of all organizational components of the facility. This position is responsible for providing leadership, establishing goals, and setting priorities while conforming to the requirements of Federal regulations, State statutes, departmental policies, and relevant certification agencies, boards and groups.

Responsibilities include the following:

  • Direct the provision and integration of dynamic psychiatric and medical treatment, psycho-social, therapeutic and related programs.
  • Direct the provision of hospital support services including, but not limited to facility maintenance, environmental services, and nutritional services
  • Oversee all hospital operations including annual strategic planning, annual goals and objectives, annual quality improvement/risk management plan, budgetary planning, human resource allocation, affirmative action plan, annual work plans, capital improvement planning, and disaster plans
  • Ensure the Hospital operates within all established Federal, State, and other regulatory rules and policies, and within the approved budget
  • Work closely with staff to further the facility's efforts to promote community living opportunities
  • Ensure that activities in regard to community transition goals are reflected in activities with LMEs and provider network to achieve optimal community living opportunities
  • Oversee the development and implementation of the Hospital's Operational Plan, to include relevant measures contained within the Division of State Operated Healthcare Facilities' (DSOHF) Operational Plan
  • Monitor facility performance with measures established in collaboration with DSOHF and the two other regional psychiatric hospitals, supporting the facility's efforts and making internal changes as necessary toward meeting the annual performance measures
  • Ensure that the hospital remains accredited by the Joint Commission; certified by CMS, and meets all the requirements set forth by Medicare, Medicaid, OSHA, ADA, State Department of Labor and CAP
  • Ensure that the facility budget is projected and maintained in a balanced manner

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities / Competencies

  • Demonstrated managerial experience in areas such as hospital management, budgetary and financial planning, psychiatric programs and services, hospital regulations, personnel policies, and/or management principals
  • Proven ability to direct a broad range of programs and services
  • Extensive knowledge of population service needs and standards for service delivery
  • Ability to direct the establishment of facility goals and priorities and to determine the appropriate allocation of resources
  • Prior record establishing and maintaining successful working relationships with consumers, families, advocates, stakeholders, community leaders, and other agencies serving people with psychiatric diagnoses

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Master's degree in hospital administration and seven years of experience in progressively responsible hospital administration, preferably in a setting similar to the position filled; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
